Rancho Lewis
Pitmaster John Lewis of Rancho Lewis (1503 King Street) and his team will welcome James Beard-nominated chef Philip Speer for a special collaborative dinner on Monday, May 15th.  The special evening, titled “From The Rio to Rancho: A Culinary Tour,” will celebrate the culinary traditions of the South and West Texas borders and each of their unique cuisines. Chef Speer will work alongside Lewis and Chef Philip Powers to create a multi-course dinner, each course representing a different border region.  Speer and Lewis both grew up in the border regions of Texas. Known for his lauded Austin, TX restaurant, Comedor, Chef Speer has over two and half decades of experience. He’s received local and nationwide recognition for Comedor along with earning four James Beard nominations for Outstanding Pastry Chef. In addition to his work as a chef, Speer is a change advocate in the culinary sphere, creating resources and support for peers and employees to engage in healthier habits. Speer heads the Austin chapter of Ben’s Friends, a weekly meeting intended to form a coalition of sober Food and Beverage professionals.  Reservations for the dinner are $60 per person with cocktail, beer and wine pairings served a la carte. Rancho Lewis will also offer a N/A pairing for the dinner with proceeds benefiting Ben’s Friends. Reserve your table on RESY by selecting May 15th.
