Galway
This was my third visit to the Emerald Isle and my second time in Galway. I really do love this exciting city. Galway is just fun and has changed in popularity since I first visited almost a decade ago. The city of Galway is on the West Coast of Ireland opposite of Dublin. If you are not driving, it is easily accessible by plane, train or coach. Both visits I took the train in and the station is in the heart of the city, walking distance to hotels and restaurants. Galway is just pure fun and has an interesting history as well. There is always something exciting to do, even if you stroll through the Latin Quarter during off season. Galway is also the starting point for several known destinations like Conemara or Aran Islands. If you don't drive, there are several day tours that leave Galway so there is never a shortage of things to do. If you want to get to Aran Islands, there are several tour companies that bring you or you can opt for what we did and just get on a ferry. The ferry's office to Aran is close to the train station. On my last visit, I came back to Galway for the Oyster and Seafood Festival which was celebrated on Nimmo's Pier. Like I said, never a shortage of fun things to do here. The seafood in Galway should be celebrated even outside of the festival. If in Galway go for the muscles, oysters or seafood. The Irish really know how to do a potato but they also know how to do muscles. Galway is truly an incredible city if you stay a few days. Hec stay a few weeks... even better! Have fun!
