The museums, the canals, and the cookies would be how I would sum up Amsterdam. It is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world, and also one where you will never struggle to find a great museum. It is also home to the greatest cookies in the world at Van Stapele Koekmakerij.

The city is considered one of the best places to party worldwide and is a favourite place to play among many famous DJ's. The variety of party options is almost endless and offers something for every taste and on almost every day of the week. Some parties run until 7am and, similarly to Berlin, some clubs even have a 24hrs licence, meaning you could for example party from Saturday evening until Monday morning. Be safe though!

A free walking tour around the city allows you to learn about the history and the best places to go during your visit. There is an expectation that you will leave a donation for what you think the tour was worth at the end.

Lacing Amsterdam’s canals are narrow lanes hiding unique treasures — tiny secret gardens, eccentric boutiques featuring local fare, an old monastery that now shows classical musicians, flower stalls, jenever (Dutch gin) distilleries, craft breweries, raucous clubs, and cutting-edge tech start-ups.IG video credit: @beautifuldestinations

My first European city. Felt similar to parts of NYC in that you could wander and find a good small restaurant or bar. Beers are relatively cheap, there is really high quality food (the only bad food I had in my 3 days there was at the Van Gogh Museum), and the people are super nice. If you are into green, LA and SF have a better scene but we did find the nicest spliff we've had - smooth tobacco with sweet paper. We did find a cool cafe where every floor was prettt small, we climbed up to the 4th/top floor and had a little hideout to ourselves with a window to the city.

Kings Day: The Kings birthday celebration. The city turns into a big party the night before (Konigsnacht) and the party goes into the next day. The canals are filled with people and along the streets there are DJs set up around each corner.

Everything relaxed, everything very loose and a lot of bicycles. When I was in Amsterdam for the first time last year, I fell in love with this sleepy city. Everything seems a little slower. I forget the stressful everyday life and enjoy the many colourful houses, the canals and the beautiful architecture.

Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are my favourites. There are clubs everywhere. It is cool to explore the Red Light District even if only for curiosity. The best way to explore the city is on a bike but be careful because they ride bikes like they were cars (full speed) in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam in a day is quite impossible as there is so many places to see and things to do. If you set aside the 'coffee shops' and the Red Light district you can immerse yourself in this charming old city. There are many great places to eat, shop and drink in Amsterdam. Take a canal cruise or check out the museums, there is so much to this city that you can easily spend a few days here. Enjoy!

Forget the cheesy stereotypes, there’s more to Amsterdam than weed, sex and prostitution. I personally got caught up in the cliché. Amsterdam is packed with art, canals and a lively nightlife – and with so much to do the cost of your trip can soon creep up. Yet it is possible to enjoy the city on a budget, and “you won't even need to go Dutch!” Biking through the streets of Amsterdam without knowing our way round the city is probably one of the fun things to do. Bike rental costs varies but we got each bikes for something around €10 per hour with a security deposit of €50 which you get back on returning the bikes. I'm from oxford which is probably the bike city of the United Kingdom so i've always had a thing for bike also Amsterdam roads are dedicated to bikes with a lot of bike lanes.

You can’t go here without checking out the culture in the red light district or going to a coffee shop. If you have a sweet tooth you are going to fall in love with stroopwafles and make sure you stock up before you leave. Getting them outside of the US isn’t the same. Overall one of my favorite cities by far. Such a cool atmosphere
