How it works

whim helps you find company for a specific outing, starting with cinema in Madrid. You already share the plan — a film at a set time — so that is what you choose each other on.

Profiles show interests and age range, not photos. It is not a dating app and it is not about making friends, and there is no pressure to stay in touch afterwards.

1 · Browse what's on

The feed shows real plans for real showtimes in Madrid: a film, a venue, a date and time, and the person going. Every profile behind a plan has been reviewed and approved by the founders before it can appear.

2 · Post or ask to join

See a plan you like? Ask to join with one tap. Nothing showing for the film you want? Post your own plan with the showtime you're going to, and let someone find you. Asking costs nothing and commits you to nothing yet.

3 · Match and confirm

The host picks one person from those who asked. Then you each confirm by authorizing the €3fee — a hold on your card, not a charge. You're only charged once both of you have confirmed; if one side doesn't, nobody pays and the hold is released automatically. The fee covers the match, not the ticket — you buy your own cinema ticket directly from the venue.

4 · Meet at the venue

Photos unlock only after you've both confirmed, so you can recognise each other when you arrive. Chat opens to sort out the details and closes 6 hours after the event. You always meet in public, at the venue. Afterwards there's no obligation to stay in touch — unless you both want to.

If plans change

Either of you can cancel any time before the event starts, and both sides are refunded in full, automatically, no questions asked. The details are in our terms.

Staying safe

Every member is vetted by us — the founders personally review each profile before approving it. Photos stay hidden until a match is confirmed, you meet in public, and if anything feels off you can report it with the ⚑ flag; a human reads every report. Questions? Write to us at help@whim.social.
