What whim is

whim matches you with one other person for a cinema outing in Madrid. You buy your own cinema ticket directly from the venue; whim's fee is €3 per person per confirmed outing, and it covers the match, not the ticket.

Your account

You must be 18 or older. Sign up with your own email, use real information, and keep one account. Every profile is reviewed by the founders before it can use whim, and we may decline, pause or remove an account to keep the community safe.

How outings work

A host posts an outing; others ask to join; the host picks one person. Both sides then confirm by authorizing the €3 fee: a hold on your card, not a charge. You are only charged when both of you have confirmed. If one side doesn't confirm, the plan simply fizzles: nobody is charged and any hold is released automatically.

Cancellations & refunds

Once a host and guest have both confirmed and paid the booking fee for a whim outing, either person may cancel at any time up until the scheduled start time of the event; cancellations aren't possible once that start time has passed. When a cancellation is made within that window, both the host and the guest are automatically refunded in full — regardless of who cancels — with no cancellation fees, penalties, or partial refunds of any kind. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card provider. If something goes wrong on the day — for example, the other person doesn't show up — email us at help@whim.social and we'll sort it out manually.

Chat

Chat opens when an outing is confirmed and closes 6 hours after the event ends. Keep it on whim — don't share phone numbers, addresses or payment details before you meet. The founders may review chats when needed for safety, and messages are deleted 30 days after they are sent.

Behaviour

Be the person someone hoped would show up. We may remove listings or accounts that put others at risk or misuse the service. If anything feels off, use the ⚑ report flag; a human reads every report.

Our role

whim introduces people; the outing itself is yours. You are responsible for your own ticket, travel and conduct at the event.
