Charleston will play a 34-match schedule across 32 weeks from March through October. Single-game tickets and Season Memberships are available now and can be purchased through tickets.charlestonbattery.com. “The 2023 campaign will be the toughest, most talented and most competitive season in USL history,” said Battery Head Coach Ben Pirmann. “That’s what our sport is all about: competing. We’re so excited and honored to be able to don the Black and Yellow this upcoming season. “We’re focused on improving every single day. We want to look in the mirror, make improvements, and then give our all every week for this club and community. Playing in Charleston at Patriots Point is a special honor, or passion and determination will be on full display for our supporters to enjoy.” The Battery are slated to play every team in the league; home-and-away series against every team in the Eastern Conference and six home and six away matches against teams in the Western Conference. The top eight clubs of each conference will advance to the USL Championship Playoffs. Breaking down the home matches by day of the week, the Battery play one on Wednesday, three on Friday and 13 on Saturday. Charleston will face four clubs for the first time, including Phoenix (H), Monterey Bay FC (H), Oakland Roots SC (H) and El Paso Locomotive FC (A). Five of the Battery’s first eight games are home matches. The Black and Yellow will host Phoenix, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Hartford Athletic, Louisville City FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC through April. Defending league champions San Antonio FC will visit Charleston for the first time on May 13 after the inaugural meeting in 2022. Western Conference sides Monterey and Oakland trek east to play the Battery on May 20 and August 4, respectively. Fellow BBQ city club Memphis 901 FC host the Battery on June 24 and then arrive in Charleston on August 26. Five of the Battery’s final eight games will also be played at home, with Memphis, San Diego Loyal SC, FC Tulsa, Miami FC and Birmingham Legion FC coming to Patriots Point. The home clash against Legion FC on October 14 is the regular season finale. The USL Championship Playoffs will remain a single-elimination format, culminating in the 2023 USL Championship Final on a to-be-determined date taking place in mid-November. “The Battery are one of the most historic teams in North America, we want to honor this club with our performances and effort, and return Charleston to prominence in the playoffs,” said Coach Pirmann. Hotel Bennett will be hosting a special celebration of Ruinart Champagne and artistry on Tuesday, June 6th, in the spirit of Spoleto Festival USA. The Best of Broadway series will host its annual “Select Your Seat” open house party on Tuesday, June 6th, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Broadway fans are invited to come out and “select their seats” for the 2023 – 2024 season. The party features live music, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a wine tasting, giveaways, and backstage tours. The first 100 people through the door will receive a free Mean Girls coffee mug. The party and parking are free. The national tours of HADESTOWN and SIX will make their Lowcountry premieres part of the 2023 – 2024 Best of Broadway season at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. HADESTOWN performances are January 2 – 7, 2024 and SIX performances are March 12 – 17, 2024. Each show will offer eight performances. The Best of Broadway series will welcome five additional shows including: COME FROM AWAY (October 20 – 22, 2023); PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL (December 1 – 3, 2023); MY FAIR LADY (February 9 – 11, 2024); and MEAN GIRLS (April 26 – 28, 2024). In addition, STOMP (May 10 – 11, 2024) returns as a special bonus. All performances are at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Annual Deputy Joe Matuskovic Memorial Hockey Game - On September 8, 2014, Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Matuskovic was killed in the line of duty. His memory continues to be honored with the 9th Annual Deputy Joe Matuskovic Memorial Hockey Game. The game is scheduled for Friday, June 2, at 7pm at Carolina Ice Palace. The evening will showcase two games involving first responders and the military: The Charleston Enforcers vs. Charleston Fire and Richland Blueliners vs. Myrtle Beach Fire. The game is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated. The funds raised will support the families of fallen first responders and those in need of assistance.
