Alhambra
A stunning 14th century Moorish palace and fortress - the last stronghold of the Moors in Spain. The architecture is very different than that of medieval Europe - open, airy courtyards, abundant water features including tiny streams winding along the floors of many palace rooms. Beautiful gardens and ramparts that overlook the white-washed houses and winding streets of the old town, the “Albaicin Quarter”, across the Rio Darro River. I love Granada. It’s one of my favorite cities in Europe. Amazing juxtaposition of lemon tree lined streets and white capped mountain peaks on the horizon.
