Murderous Yarns - Knitting/crocheting circle at CCPL's Main Branch. People can drop in the first Wednesday of each month between 11:00 - 12:00 with a craft project (if they have one) while we work, listen to true crime podcasts, and eat cookies.  

Felix Cocktails et Cuisine

On the first Tuesday of every month, Parisian-inspired restaurant Félix offers a tasting menu with paired cocktails. The next dinner will take place on Tuesday, June 6th, with seatings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. With five-courses total, each dish is accompanied by a signature Cathead Vodka-inspired cocktail, selected to highlight Félix’s curated menu.  Guests can expect the following libations to accompany their meal: Watermelon Sugar – Honeysuckle Vodka with Watermelon and Basil Shrub, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Soda, and Chilled Watermelon Ice Cubes Milky Chance – Bitter Orange Vodka with Clarified Milk Punch, Citrus, Tea, and Simple Syrup Sweet Caroline – Fat Washed Pecan Vodka, Demerara, Benedictine, and Bitters Not Quite an Espresso Martini – Hoodoo, Cold Brew Infused Hoodoo Chicory Liqueur, Cocchi di Torino Vermouth, Averna, and Bitters Raspberry Beret – Raspberry Vodka with Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Green Chartreuse, and Egg White The cost is $65 for the coursed meal and an additional $85 for drink pairings ($150 total). Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

Summer is (almost) here and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is throwing a party to celebrate. Called “Hello Summer,” the event will be held nationwide at Jeni’s scoop shops on Monday, June 5th from 7 pm until close. See below for what’s in store. Commonhouse Aleworks

First Friday for June features live music from Brushfire Stankgrass and BBQ from Big Boned BBQ! BBQ fires up around 5 with tunes kicking off at 6! Brushfire Stankgrass is an Asheville-based bluegrass fusion group featuring brothers Ben & Will Saylor (banjo/guitar/vocals), Micah Thomas (drums) and Daniel Iannucci (bass.) The band, now in their tenth year with its current lineup, has released four studio albums to date, and has two more albums currently underway, tracked at Asheville’s famed Echo Mountain Studios. Exciting live shows and cutting edge studio material is at the forefront of their musical product. “The Rich Cache” was released in 2021 and is just that, a collection of buried tunes that the band has performed on stages great and small for over a decade, and finally, lovingly, self produced into a full length album. Featuring fan favorites like “Appalachian Snow “ and “The Party Suite” the album evokes a true sense of the group’s history and evolution, and is a celebration of some of their most unique and lasting creations. From traditional acoustic mastery to deep space synth vibes, their entire range is on full display. Tracked at Echo Mountain Studios in 2018, “City of a Thousand Hills” is the culmination of countless hours of practice and collaboration, consternation and celebration. It is a rueful love letter to their mountain home, as well as a fervent call to action, continuing the band’s urgent message of preservation and conservancy in “Pretty Ass Blue Ridge Mountain Shit” that began with 2013’s Microclimates. With contributions from much loved local talents and the engineering mastery of the good folks at Echo Mountain, the album represents the groups greatest achievement to date, both creatively and technologically.

Carolina Ice Palace

Annual Deputy Joe Matuskovic Memorial Hockey Game - On September 8, 2014, Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Matuskovic was killed in the line of duty. His memory continues to be honored with the 9th Annual Deputy Joe Matuskovic Memorial Hockey Game. The game is scheduled for Friday, June 2, at 7pm at Carolina Ice Palace. The evening will showcase two games involving first responders and the military: The Charleston Enforcers vs. Charleston Fire and Richland Blueliners vs. Myrtle Beach Fire. The game is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated. The funds raised will support the families of fallen first responders and those in need of assistance.
