The Best Of SoCal
I am a fan of Downtown and it's evolution over the decades. DTLA is actually my choice of locations when I go back to my hometown. I don't even need a car, since I Uber it around. The metro system also has several stops in DTLA. This district in LA is full of luxury hotels, Airbnb, boutique hotels and inexpensive stays. There are plenty of great dining choices, bars and shopping.
DTLA is one of the oldest original parts of Los Angeles. It is where life of the city started until 'talkies' movies with sound moved everything out and into the burbs.
That is why you will find older architecture, theatres with beautiful marques and closer quarters. It is very different from the other neighborhoods in LA and should definitely be explored.
