Corinne Bailey Rae: The Black Rainbows Tour $35 - $55 English singer/songwriter/musician Corinne Bailey Rae shot to stardom with her self- titled #1 U.K. debut album in 2006, featuring the global hits “Put Your Records On” and “Like A Star.” Over the course of her career she has released three critically acclaimed studio albums—Corinne Bailey Rae, The Sea and The Heart Speaks in Whispers—and earned two Grammy Awards, two MOBOS, and has been nominated for multiple awards including the BRIT Awards, Mercury Music Prize and BET Awards. Her work for film and television includes the theme to Stan Lee’s Lucky Man (SKY1), “The Scientist” for Universal Pictures’ Fifty Shades Darker opening title and soundtrack which charted globally, and in 2020 her song “New to Me” was performed in the film The High Note by Tracee Ellis Ross. Improv Comedy Show and Book Signing for Greg Tavares’ new book – Daddy Issues: How to Stop Worrying and Love Being a Dad Theatre 99 presents a night of improv comedy and book release celebration as one of the founders of Theatre 99, Greg Tavares, shares his hilarious take on becoming a dad. In his new book, Daddy Issues: How to Stop Worrying and Love Being a Dad, Tavares shares his own blunt and funny experiences of becoming a dad, but he also shares the joy and love that he has found in fatherhood. At the event, Tavares will read from his book, and he will also be joined by some of the other members of Theatre 99 for a night of improv comedy. There will even be an all dad improv group.  Don’t miss this opportunity to see a hilarious show and support a local author.

Gibbes Museum of Art

Some of the finest examples of 20th century American photography are on display at the Gibbes Museum of Art, now through Jan. 14, 2024. This exhibition, The Bitter Years: Dorthea Lange and Walker Evans Photographs from the Martin Z. Margulies Collection, showcases 65 photographs by renowned American photographers who launched their careers as documentarians of the Great Depression.The Gibbes is offering special programming throughout the duration of this exhibition, and there are still three programs remaining: The Poetics of Witness, Sept. 20 Inspired by the exhibition The Bitter Years: Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans Photographs from the Martin Z. Margulies Collection, the Gibbes will host an evening with contemporary documentary photographers, scholars and poets to explore the different ways artists bear witness, creating work that inhabits the space between the personal and the political.
