Union Station
In the heart of LA is Union Station. A beautiful Art Deco and Mission Revival building that is about 80 years old. Two of my favorite architectural styles and both common in Los Angeles. Back in the days nothing much happened here but a few trains but nowadays it is a station that rivals the busiest stations globally. I love it. I honestly think it is a great starting point for travelers to see old Los Angeles. It is right across the street from the historic Olvera Street, China Town, Little Tokyo and downtown Los Angeles. From here you can take the metro to different locations in the city. This is also where coaches from other cities and LAX arrive and depart. The station itself is just gorgeous both inside and out. There are club chairs for travelers, restaraunts, fast food and a lovely courtyard. You can also rent cars from here so it makes an easy transition when arriving into Union Station. If you find yourself here, don't rush though. Walk around and look at the details- the ceiling, floors, the details! I do love historical buildings that still have life and serve a purpose. I do love this station!
