Was literally walking down the street in the French Quarter when a bike taxi pulled over next to us and told his passengers they simply HAVE to eat dinner at the restaurant I was standing in front of. A completely nondescript place, according to the driver I was standing in front of the best gumbo place in Louisiana and we better get in quick because the line is usually around the block. I scurried in ASAP and waited for a table for 2 for about 20 minutes. This place is legit. It’s no frills gumbo, creole, and other New Orleans famous favorites without the frills or the hefty price tag. A Boudin sausage and two bowls of gumbo ran us under $30. Plus, it was the best authentic gumbo I’ve ever had. Sure enough, by the time we left the line was out the door and around the block.
