The 45th annual Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition presents the work of 60 fine art artists in a free open-air venue the entire family can enjoy. Marion Square is transformed into a beautiful open-air fine art market as South Carolina artists exhibit and personally sell their work. Visitors have a unique opportunity to watch daily painting demonstrations and to personally connect with the artists who are on site for the exhibition’s duration.

Lowcountry Artists Gallery

Lowcountry Artists Gallery presents a new exhibition of photographs by Nicole Robinson for the month of June in a show entitled “Wave Therapy.” An opening reception will be held at Lowcountry Artists Gallery, 148 East Bay Street, on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 5-8 PM. Admission is free and all are welcome. Light refreshments will be served and the artist will be in attendance. The exhibit showcases Nicole's latest collection of photographs that bring relaxation and happiness by the shore and beyond. Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature captured through her unique perspective behind the lens. Join us to explore the sea and appreciate the wonders of our planet.

Campers get down and dirty  exploring a marsh ecosystem and tracking animals along the trail while learning about  archaeology, life in a marsh, Native Americans, and animals. Nature Trailer Summer Camps are  for ages 5 – 10 and include crafts, activities, and admission to the Dill Sanctuary from 9 am  through 12 pm.  Reservations required. They will be  on hand to share projects currently being worked on and to help identify your fossil finds.  FREE for Members and FREE with admission to The Charleston Museum.  Sweetgrass Basket Weaving Workshop with Local Artisan Sarah Edwards-Hammond June 10th, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Join local artisan Sarah Edwards-Hammond for in-depth instruction on sweetgrass  basketry which has been an integral part of the Lowcountry’s Gullah Geechee  community since the 17th century. Edwards-Hammond comes from a long line of basket  makers and has passed down the tradition to her family and others in the community.  She will share a brief history of the artisanal craft of basket making. Participants will  then spend the remainder of the class making their own basket guided by Edwards Hammond. Come learn about an extraordinary craft that has been a staple of culture,  art, and history in Charleston for centuries. All materials and instruction will be provided.  Space is limited. America’s First Museum: 250 Years of Collecting, Preserving and Educating, Part 2 opens to the public   June 17th, 2023: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm   Commemorating two and a half centuries since its founding and spanning nearly 4.6 billion  years of history, we are pleased to present America’s First Museum: 250 Years of Collecting,  Preserving, and Educating in the Historic Textiles Gallery. This year-long exhibit will feature a  wide array of objects that tell the story of this impressive institution and its remarkable  collections.  Part two will showcase a church pew made by enslaved hands measuring 20 feet in length,  centuries old Archaic carved bone pins, a skull from the largest known flying bird and a couture  Fortuny gown.
