Medellin

Medellin was plagued by drug violence just a few years ago. However, that brutal history is now part of the past. Medellin has been recognized as one of the most innovative cities worldwide, and it shows. The people are welcoming and prideful in showing their city. I highly recommend going to the "Museo del Recuerdo," which details the unfortunate violence that plagued the city, and even Colombia as a whole. Comuna 13 is a popular tourist site worth going to, along with the Museo de Antioquia. If you have some time to travel around, the towns of Guatape, La Ceja, and Carmen de Viboral are a nice look into small-town Colombian life.
