Isla Holbox

This peninsula is a little paradise. There are almost no cars but only converted golf carts and there is a peaceful village life. Hundreds of whale sharks gather off the coast in the summer months, and you can also snorkel or dive with these giants. In addition, the island is known for the fact that you can see the plankton glowing in the sea at night. For this you rent the best a golf cart or can drive around. For us, the effect was not extreme but still an unforgettable natural phenomenon, which one must have seen. Attention : There are millions of mosquitoes on this beach at night. Good mosquito repellent and long clothes are a must. We were even stung on the face and through the loose clothing.There is also a beautiful beach where you can just enjoy the day.The Isla Holbox can be reached by rental car or ADO bus. You drive to "Chiquila" and take from there the ferry, which runs every 30 minutes and costs 140 pesos / person. I recommend 2-3 nights on the peninsula.
