Eisbachwelle
Already from Prinzregentenstraße you can often see a crowd of enthusiastic spectators. They stand at the balustrade of the small bridge directly at the Haus der Kunst or blare on the banks of the Eisbach between the trees of the English Garden. It was attracted by a popular Munich attraction, the Eisbach wave. It is the most famous of Munich's "standing waves". This is where the surfer scene meets - all year round. While the ride on the Eisbach wave was illegal until a few years ago, it is now legally permitted due to the property exchange between the state capital Munich and the federal state Bavaria. However, only absolute professionals should venture into the water, because surfing is neither easy nor harmless and therefore not suitable for beginners. Swimming is not allowed here.
