Antigua's Donkey Santuary Humane Society

February 2019 Antigua trip ⛱🏝🇦🇬
One of the most memorable parts about my time in Antigua so far! Since technology made the use of donkeys as farm helpers obsolete, many of them have returned to the wild and continued to thrive here on the island. Unfortunately, as the number of automobiles and population on the island grows, more of these buddies are getting themselves into danger or getting hit by cars, so the Humane Society decided to create a safe place for donkeys to call home.
Pictured is my friend Kylie giving Stevie some scratches. Stevie was blinded after being hit by a car, but the caretakers tell us that he knows his way around the sanctuary for food, water, and his own little shelter.
