The best thing you can do in Milan is go for aperitivo in the Navigli area! Walk along the canals, enjoy some typical cocktails, and all-you-can-eat aperitifs for a light dinner. The bar La Fontanella is a great place to hit up afterwards for a unique beer-drinking experience.

Before visiting Cape Town, Milan was my favorite city. It has the deeply rich history and culture that makes Italy so alluring. The city center is ancient, and you can see it in the cobblestone streets and architecture, but the city has really great public transit and tons to do. It's also very close to the mountains, and just two hours by train to the beach.

Milan made it to our list (strong competition from Florence) mostly because it consistantly delivered top notch Pizzas everywhere irrespective of whether it was from street café's or fancier restaurants. We recommend: Gelato from everywhere, Berbere - one of the few places that lets you pick your own dough, Pescaria, Ciripizza, Ribot (one of our best meals ever), Paper Moon, Panzerotti Luinis dough balls stuffed with Mozzarella. While Milan may seem small, every corner has a unique character with every little grid displaying some form of fashion and design. Besides the impressive tourist spots, the tiny streets are where you'll find little art galleries displaying some very impressive & affordable art.

There's more to it than the capital of fashion and expensive brand stores. Home of the architectural masterpiece Il Duomo, Milan has a great variety of museums where art meets history and they blend in the most magical way. Italian food can be found around every corner so enjoy and watch out for those carbs!

If Milan were a person it would be Fashionable, Dramatic, and Ambitious. I highly recommend visiting this even if you aren’t into high-end shopping or expensive dining, there is so much class and beauty in this large city and activités you can do for free. While visiting Milan i would go to: Duomo Di Milano (photo above), Galleria Vittoria Emanuele ll, Teatro alla Scala, Santa Maria Della Grazie (the Last Supper), and Corso Vittoria Emanuele ll (one of the most famous shopping streets in the world). There is a very happening nightlife and club scene as well. If your extra brave, visit Milan during fashion week!
