In Shanghai we opted again for a dorm in the "Rock & Wood Youth Hostel". Luckily it was only a foursome dorm, nevertheless we had the first night of course 2 snoring Indians in the room. As it often rained in Shanghai, we spent the days mainly shopping, although we did not really made a big profit. Nevertheless, I was very happy about the Victoria Secret, which is the only one in all of Asia, which leads the whole assortment. Of course, a visit to the Bund was not missing, where you have a view over the skyline. But honestly, I have seen far more beautiful skylines. In addition, Shanghai was so much spoiled that you could not really enjoy it. What I can recommend is the " Zapatas ". This is a mexican restaurant with bar and disco. The food is delicious and the drinks affordable, also the mood is always great.

Shanghai offers one of my favorite city skylines, especially at night when the city is lit up. Make sure to check out the roof top bar at the Ritz-Carlton at night and enjoy a cocktail while taking in the ShangHIGH views.

Modern China in one city. There's no shortage of things to do, and its xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) are fantastic.

Ocho Bar Tools Store -- speakeasy bar. You go through a bookshelf in the wall to get to this bar, and the drinks here are incredible. Rated top 15 bar in Asia, and they had #1 best drink in world in 2007. Have to go here.

Union Trading Company (bar) -- ranked a top 10 bar in Asia, this is more of a classic bar with incredible drinks. Loved the Moscow Mules, but get whatever drink Yao (Texas bartender) recommends. Amazing place.

Xiao Long Bao -- I call these 'Soupy dumplings' as these little streamed buns are filled with meat as well as hot soup, eat carefully and you won't want to lose any of the golden stock. Xiao Long Bao originates around Shanghai area, and you can find them easily in many dumpling restaurants.

Din Tai Fung (restaurant) -- Michelin star restaurant and Top ten restaurant in the world (NY Times). These are the best dumplings you will ever eat in your life. Could be the best meal of your life. Not expensive either.
