Being close to Hallstadt (one of the most iconic places in Austria) it is definitely recommended to pay Salzburg a visit. Austrias best bear, amazing opera culture (Mozarts hometown) and a beautiful view over the city by the river is hard to compete with.

The city of Mozart's birth is appropriately stately, and steeped in a history of music and culture. Small, walkable, and welcoming, head up to Hohensalzburg Castle for stunning views of the area.

The place that surprised us! We didn’t expect much from Salzburg but now we’ve visited we want to go back! A mix of old town vibes,mountain views and hikes. It’s also a great place to base yourself in Austria to explore the surrounding picturesque villages.
