Charleston will play a 34-match schedule across 32 weeks from March through October. We’re so excited and honored to be able to don the Black and Yellow this upcoming season. “We’re focused on improving every single day. We want to look in the mirror, make improvements, and then give our all every week for this club and community. Playing in Charleston at Patriots Point is a special honor, or passion and determination will be on full display for our supporters to enjoy.” The Battery are slated to play every team in the league; home-and-away series against every team in the Eastern Conference and six home and six away matches against teams in the Western Conference. The top eight clubs of each conference will advance to the USL Championship Playoffs. Breaking down the home matches by day of the week, the Battery play one on Wednesday, three on Friday and 13 on Saturday. Charleston will face four clubs for the first time, including Phoenix (H), Monterey Bay FC (H), Oakland Roots SC (H) and El Paso Locomotive FC (A). Five of the Battery’s first eight games are home matches. The Black and Yellow will host Phoenix, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Hartford Athletic, Louisville City FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC through April. Defending league champions San Antonio FC will visit Charleston for the first time on May 13 after the inaugural meeting in 2022. Western Conference sides Monterey and Oakland trek east to play the Battery on May 20 and August 4, respectively. Fellow BBQ city club Memphis 901 FC host the Battery on June 24 and then arrive in Charleston on August 26. Five of the Battery’s final eight games will also be played at home, with Memphis, San Diego Loyal SC, FC Tulsa, Miami FC and Birmingham Legion FC coming to Patriots Point. The home clash against Legion FC on October 14 is the regular season finale. The USL Championship Playoffs will remain a single-elimination format, culminating in the 2023 USL Championship Final on a to-be-determined date taking place in mid-November. “The Battery are one of the most historic teams in North America, we want to honor this club with our performances and effort, and return Charleston to prominence in the playoffs,” said Coach Pirmann. In partnership with Charleston Pride and youth advocacy organization We Are Family, the club is excited to celebrate and support the LGBTQI+ community and allies.

🛻BLACK FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL: Nov. 13 12pm-Nov.14 5pm. $10 one day admission, $15 weekend pass. A celebration of Black food, music and culture, the event will feature Black-owned food trucks from across the Charleston area — and a little bit further with some from Columbia. Featured food vendors include A Peace of Soul, Bits n Bytes, Bourbon Street, Charleston Caribbean Creole, Chef Racks, Chef TR, Daddy’s Girls Bakery, Sweetgrass Foodz, Tailz 843 and more. Entertainment for the weekend includes talents from DJ Tantrum, 12-2 p.m., and BlackNoyze featuring Ro Lafaye, 2-5 p.m. Saturday. Deejay Rubin will take over Sunday, 12-5 p.m., and Black Diamond Band will close things out 2:30-5 p.m.

The USL Championship announced Thursday the league’s slate of home openers for the 2022 regular season. The Charleston Battery will kick off the season on Saturday, March 12th, against FC Tulsa at Patriots Point. Information on the kickoff time, when tickets will be available for purchase, and the rest of the 2022 home schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

SOCCER TOURNAMENT: The Charleston Battery announced Thursday the return of its annual preseason exhibition tournament, the Breeze Airways Carolina Challenge Cup (CCC), set for February 12th through 19th at Patriots Point. The 16th edition of the CCC, in partnership with the Charleston International Airport, will see the Battery face off against visiting Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs the Columbus Crew, Inter Miami CF, and Charlotte FC. TODAY: Battery will host the annual Battle of the Badges soccer tournament ahead of the club’s Hometown Heroes Night at Patriots Point. The Battle of the Badges tournament, annually featuring teams from area police and fire departments, will kick off at 4:30 pm ahead of the Battery’s 7:30 pm match against Sacramento.
