Ear For Music, AC Entertainment, REV Federal Credit Union are today announced that both Grace Potter and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will perform at North Charleston’s Riverfront Park as part of the Safe Sounds 2.0 concert series. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, March 26th at 10 am. Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter will perform on Wednesday, April 28th. Described by Spin as “one of the greatest living voices in rock today,” Potter has not only played every major music festival from Coachella and Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo and Rock in Rio, she’s created her own thriving music festival, Burlington, VT’s Grand Point North. Additionally, she’s shared a stage with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Robert Plant, the Allman Brothers, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, and The Roots to name just a few. A three-time GRAMMY-nominated artist (two for 2019’s Daylight, one for her multiplatinum duet with Kenny Chesney), Potter has also collaborated with the Flaming Lips for a Tim Burton film, and written and produced music for film and TV, including Disney’s animated feature Tangled and the ABC animated holiday special Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice. Pysch-funk quartet Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will perform at Riverfront Park on Thursday, April 15th. City council is considering restricting food trucks from operating after 1am and within 100 feet of any restaurants on King St from Line to Broad and across Market to Concord. The proposal will be read on Tuesday.

The event was cancelled in 2020 and it is now scheduled for Saturday, October 9th, which is amazing because it’s normally in the middle of summer and very very hot 🥵 They will have 40+ breweries, 100+ brews, food trucks, and beer games throughout the day!

🇺🇸CELEBRATE THE 4TH OF JULY: 7-10PM. Enjoy Charleston’s largest 4th of July Fireworks show on the banks of the Cooper River from 7-10pm. This event is free to attend and there is plenty of free parking onsite. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets as there will be no seating provided. There will be music from DJ Natty Heavy to keep the party going and the fireworks will start when it gets dark. There will not be any food or drinks on site, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks if needed.

National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition - The seventeenth annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition FY23/24 opens May 3 at the stunning North Charleston Riverfront Park. The 11-month exhibition features 13 pieces by established and emerging artists from 7 states displaying imaginative and thought-provoking outdoor sculpture. POSTPONED: Lowcountry beer lovers will have to wait another year to celebrate the Charleston Beer Fest (CBF). The festival organizers, Palmetto Community Care, have decided to postpone the festival until 2022 due to the recent surge in COVID cases in the Lowcountry. The event was also postponed last year. “As a nonprofit organization focused on public health in our community, we cannot in good conscience hold this festival amidst the historic surge in COVID cases that are once again pushing the limits of our healthcare system,” said Bradley Childs, Executive Director of Palmetto Community Care. “We understand the extra effort that goes into preparing for this festival, and we wanted to make all of our partners and ticket holders aware of this change as soon as this decision was made.”

On Saturday, March 19th, Charleston Animal Society will host Celebrity Paws in the Park at Riverfront Park in North Charleston (1061 Everglades Avenue). People can participate in a competitive 5K race or a leisurely fun run and walk with their dog. Then, families are invited to hang out and enjoy six activity zones throughout the park, including dog adoptions, Dock Dogs® diving competitions, and health and wellness services for pets.
