The Fest offers music and educational activities to encourage, broaden, and deepen appreciation of the chamber music art form. Violinist Lee-Chin Siow, praised by the American Record Guide as “a distinguished cultural asset of international stature” and by London’s The Strad Magazine as a “trailblazing role model for string players,” launched her career as Singapore’s first violin soloist to make a mark and forge a solo career on the international classical music stage. She has wowed audiences in more than 20 countries across five continents, from Carnegie Hall to Osaka Symphony Hall. A seasoned performer and the Henryk Szeryng International Competition Gold Medalist, Siow is Professor of Violin at the College of Charleston. (Fun fact: She has a postage stamp in her image in Singapore!) Cellist Natalia Khoma “…plays with masterful authority…magical and deeply touching…” (New York Concert Review), thrilling audiences around the world and capturing top honors at All-Ukrainian competition, Budapest Pablo Casals Competition, Tchaikovsky International Competition and Belgrade International Cello Competition. Khoma is Professor of Cello at the College of Charleston. (Fun fact: She is the only Ukrainian cellist to become a laureate of the Tchaikovsky International Competition!) Violist Jan-Marie Joyce is Principal Violist of the Charleston Symphony, where she has appeared frequently as soloist. She also has performed with orchestras across the country such as Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Opera, Naples Philharmonic, Akron Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, and Erie Philharmonic. Joyce can be heard on a CD of chamber music for oboe and strings with members of her family. (Fun Fact: She has held the position of Principal Violist of the Charleston Symphony for 24 years!) Pianist Volodymyr Vynnytsky has graced many of the great music halls of the world including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, the Great Bolshoi Hall at the Moscow Conservatory, the Theatre Champs d’Elysees, and St. John’s Smith Square in London. Vynnytsky is Music Director of the Music and Art Center in New York and Director of Chamber Music at the College of Charleston. (Fun fact: He is a laureate of the Margueritte Long-Jacques Thibaud International Piano Competition in Paris!)
