One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen (literally). A lagoon filled with floating chunks of ice that have broken off the glacier in the mountains nearby. It’s so cool seeing the giant blue icebergs floating lazily around and eventually out to the beach. Highly recommend this stop.

Also known as Diamond Beach, this lagoon catches the drifting chunks of iceberg as they break off the glacier. Seal spotting in the region is also very popular.

Breathtaking place where you can watch thousands of years old icebergs float around you. Golden hour here is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.

Vatnajokull glacier covers over 10% of Iceland's surface area. This lagoon is where it breaks off an you can watch mini icebergs float out to see. A sight to behold.

As mentioned earlier Iceland is called the country of fire and ice, but to be honest I didn’t expect to see massive pieces of ice floating around in the water like at the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon! This was truly one of the most magnificent things we saw doing our stay in Iceland and another place to visit in Iceland!

Jökulsárlón is known for its grand sight with huge pieces of Icebergs lining the lagoon. Formed from the retreating of Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it is Iceland’s deepest lake at a depth of close to 250m. You can spot the occasional ash-grey on some icebergs indicative of volcanic activities that have left their mark, reminding us again why Iceland is the land of fire and ice. You can opt for the amphibian boat tour in Jökulsárlón that brings you around the giant icebergs for an up-close experience. Either way, you should not leave this out if you are planning a trip to South Iceland.
