For those who have may have been living under a rock, the Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in Iceland and is one of the most visited attractions in the country. The warm waters are rich in minerals like silica and sulfur and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help some people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis, the minerals rich mud is also great for the skin. Most importantly it is also very insta-worthy.

After a long day of driving and hiking during our short 25 hours in Iceland we finished the night at the Blue Lagoon Hot Springs in Iceland. We booked the standard package ahead of time for 4:00 pm and it was so perfect! We were there to watch the sunset as well which gave us some nice time in the light but then a very peaceful evening when it got dark. The standard package includes entry, a locker, a free drink, a towel, a robe, and one free mud mask! Our whole experience was fantastic and super easy to get around! Lockers were safe and spacious, we each received a free glass of Prosecco, and then bought one more additional one! Our mud mask was amazing and felt so cooling to the skin! They have more masks for purchase to use in the lagoon or to take home with you! They recommend you not getting your hair wet, or if you do to lather the conditioner in your hair! I did end up getting my hair wet and although it felt better being lose in the water it did take about 3-4 washes to get most of the silica out of my hair! Only complaint is the prices of food! However, all of Iceland we found to be overly expensive so I would just recommend bringing snacks! We truly had an incredible experience and if you’re going to Iceland I would say this is one thing you absolutely can not miss!! *

Although this is the type of touristy, pricey attraction that I would typically opt to avoid, I would advice against skipping this one if you have the cash to spare. Definitely book online ahead of time to secure a reservation!

Though touristy, I'd still recommend visiting the Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is unfortunately not natural and there are many other, free hot springs around the country you can explore - but the lagoon is still something special to have experienced. Tip: Don't get your hair wet! The sulphur will wreak havoc on your strands.

Relax in one of the most beautiful geothermal spas in all of Iceland. This milky blue lagoon is open rain, snow, or shine! With a bar and complementary silica masks this is the place to be.

The most touristy thing on this list. More like a spa than a natural hot spring but it can't be missed. Bright blue water and black volcanic rock make for quite the mystical vibe.
