Table mountain is equally beautiful up close and personal as it is from a distance, however, the hike is anything but a breeze. Imagine 3,000 vertical feet of staircases. That's what your up against. If you're fit to conquer this... 100% worth it. Taking the trail rather than the gondola is a unique way to escape the tourist scene, and start your day with some hardcore activity. We set off early in the morning when the mountain was still swirling with clouds, giving it a tropical, mysterious vibe. Hit the top for jaw dropping views of the ocean and town below, and took the gondola down in time to get a rejuvenating lunch.

whether your up for the physical challenge of a hike or choose to take the cable car, you will be awed by the stunning views of this magnificent city when you reach the top. Sunset is the best time to go, you can purchase a sundowner drink from the top and take some incredible pics as the city lights up for the night.

No trip to Cape Town is complete without a trip up this World Wonder. If you’re a fitness or hiking lover then you can head up the mountain by foot, or you can take the cable car to the very top. The cable car trip lasts only a few minutes but it offers incredible views of the Mother City. My favourite part of the ride up is that the car turns and does a complete 360 while going up. Once you’re on top you can grab some lunch and cake and explore the top of the table (mountain). See what I did there?

Flat-topped Table Mountain is the most photographed landmark in South Africa. Table Mountain National Park protects an astounding diversity of plants and animals. A layer of clouds, called the "tablecloth" frequently cloaks the mountain's peak, but when the clouds clear, visitors can enjoy spectacular views. Bring a sweater as it can be cold and windy at the top. For those short on time, and energy, a cableway climbs to the summit daily, except in high winds, so check the website or call before heading out. Those wishing to summit the mountain on foot, for superb views of Table Mountain and the best vantage point, hike or drive up Signal Hill or Lion's Head.

A view like no other, and a mountable as flat as a table. Expensive, but worth a trip

The most iconic landmark in Cape town, Table mountain offers the best view of the city. The flat top peak of the mountain reaches 1,086 m above sea level, but being so close to the sea and to the city its features look more imposing

Stunning view. You can either take the gondol up, or do a hike to the top where you'll have the view over all of Cape Town.

The main attraction of Cape Town, this mountain overlooks the whole city and offers spectacular 360° views. Take a revolving cable car up the mountain or for the more adventurous, you can hike up the mountain. Once at the top, there is a restaurant and opportunity to view Cape Town from a different perspective. A must do if you’re in the area.
