For all you Harry Potter fans out there - this is a MUST see! It was at the Elephant Café that J.K Rowling herself wrote parts of the first Harry Potter book, overlooking the Edinburgh Castle. After your coffee break, make sure to visit the graveyard just around the corner. This is were the author got the inspiration for some of her characters names. Which ones can you find?

This laid-back coffee house is where JK Rowling kick-started her career as a writer, penning her first few novels in the back room, overlooking Edinburgh Castle.

Opened in 1995, The Elephant House has established itself as one of the best tea and coffee houses in Edinburgh. Made famous as the place of inspiration to writers such as J.K. Rowling, who sat writing much of her early novels in the back room overlooking Edinburgh Castle. The haggis is to die for. Go and get yourself a proper breakfast and write your name on the bathroom wall!

The Birth Place of Harry Potter! This cafe is where JK Rowling wrote her famous novels over coffee. It is located in Old Town just off of the Royal Mile. It can get busy so expect to wait in a line but it is worth it if you are a fan of the series. The food here is very good - the cakes and meals are delicious.
