So Lake Garda isn’t technically in Verona, but I cannot recommend going to Lake Garda enough! I absolutely loved it! It’s only about a 30 minute drive from Verona, and you should definitely plan some time there. We only spent an afternoon around Lake Garda and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Not only for the rich and famous, rent your own tiny speedboat for a day and skim across the water to Punta San Vigilio where you can drop anchor and be escorted to shore by local boat. Enjoy fresh seafood and reasonably priced wine from the best spot on the lake for people watching.

Do not miss the view from the Church of Santa Barbara and the corner of paradise made up of the villa on the island of Garda.

The frantic road chase in Quantum of Solace, where James Bond (Daniel Craig) delivers the hapless Mr White to the secret MI6 lair, is alongside Lake Garda in northern Italy.

Lesser known than Lake Como, Lake Garda is equally as stunning but at a slightly more reasonable price. Check out the "large" town of Sirmione or, if you have longer than one day, explore up the west coast of the lake for some seriously stunning views.
