We went to Marrakech, which was unlike any city I’d ever seen before. Mostly because it was an African city and also because it was a mostly muslim city so we were some of the very few women walking around without veils on. Flights were relatively inexpensive from Paris mostly because there are a lot of Moroccan immigrants. Marrakech was cool but you cannot go without a guided tour, its just not very smart. We went with Snoworsand.com (they do tours to other places too that you can look into!!) and it was a pretty low budget trip. It wasn’t my favorite weekend away mostly because its kind of culture shocking but I’m really glad I went. Who know’s when else in my life I’ll get to see a city like Marrakech. We got to hike in the mountains, ride camels, saw a belly dancing show (most degrading thing I’ve ever seen but also culturally relevant) do lots of inexpensive shopping in markets, it was really cool. But be careful with the tap water, you SHOULD NOT drink it. My poor friend Emma got really sick but not until we got home in Paris.

Get lost in the red city souks! But don't feed the monkeys! You'll come across many performers trying to get you to take a photo with them and then demanding payment. This practice is actually illegal so don't encourage it. The souks in Marrakech are truly mesmorising, full of colours and light. It's best visited at night as during the day is too hot to wander around. It's also the time that it comes to life with music and lights everywhere. Don't foret to bargain prices down - it's actually apart of Arabic culture to bargain prices and they appreciate your efforts. The rule of thumb is always to half the original asking prices and go from there until you meet a price you're both happy with. Don't back down and if you're unhappy with the price just move on as you'll always find another stall selling the same thing. 9 times out of 10, if you start to move away they will give in to make the sale.

I vibrant city, full of colours, smells and noise. Dive into the streets of the Mdina and stop to buy leather goods in the little shops. Then plonge in to a garden for some peace and quiet.

The Atlas Mountains were a great place to take a bike ride, I was able to get in a great workout with wonderful views and see many of the little rural towns outside the main city. The food was delicious and the camel ride in the mountains was a highlight of the trip.

Like going back in time, within the walls of the medina, Marrakech will deliver just enough culture shock to get you out of your comfort zone. The sounds and smells will always remain in your memory.

Brilliantly colourful and diverse. I also just love that it’s a short drive from the mountains for the hikers out there.

It’s a delight for food photographers and travel photographers alike. As the day cools into the evening people come from all around to dine at one of the many food stalls

Intoxicatingly exotic. So close to Europe but culturally worlds apart and a gateway into the desert. you can't help but while away endless hours exploring the Souks of Morocco.

One of the most unique cities I've ever visited. Immerse yourself in the culture and appreciate all of the beautiful colors, tile work, and hand crafts that Marrakech has to offer!

The culture in Marrakesh was so lively and colorful. We tasted amazing food and saw snake charmers on the street. My parents purchased some beautiful Moroccon rugs while we were here--the shopping was incredible.
