👀KNOW THIS: A car group shut down one side of the Ravenel Bridge yesterday. Police received reports of vehicles blocking traffic, doing burnouts, and driving recklessly. No one was injured and no arrests were made, but a traffic ticket and warning were issued

EFFECTIVE TODAY: South Carolina drivers who hold up traffic in the far left lane on certain roads will soon be breaking the law. Today, the state’s new “move right” law – also dubbed the “slowpoke” law – takes effect. It requires drivers to only use the far left hand lane on controlled access highways like interstates for passing except when no other vehicle is behind them or they need to exit on a ramp on the left side of the road.

SOME LANES CLOSED: Lanes on both sides of the Ravenel Bridge are closed due to ice falling. Mt. Pleasant Police said one lane on each side of the bridge was closed where ice is primarily coming down.

🥳THE RAVENEL REOPENS: All lanes re-opened yesterday at 4pm after several incidents with falling ice. SCDOT has considered employing a heating system should this happen again, which would be pricey. They reached out to the City of Boston for advice, but they couldn’t help because their weather patterns differ so vastly from ours. They would never have a situation where they had freezing rain and it immediately thawed.

🏃🏼‍♀️PLAN AHEAD: BRIDGE RUN ROAD CLOSURES: Although the race is on Saturday, road closures begin Friday night in anticipation. George St between King St will be closed at 10pm until 2pm Saturday, Meeting between George and Wentworth will be closed for the same time period. Expect delays and congestion in Coleman Boulevard as race materials are put in place between 9am and 4pm.

🐱 KITTEN RESCUE: A couple of good samiritans pulled over on the Ravenel Bridge when they spotted a kitten. The kitten then hid under one of the cars and two other drivers worked together to get the kitten out from under the car. The kitten is doing ok and it’s unclear how it ended up on the bridge.

🚨TRAFFIC ALERT: A motorcycle crash has blocked the two far right lanes of I-26W between the Crosstown and the Ravenel Bridge on ramp. The crash happened just before 9:30am and officials are asking motorists to take an alternate route while they clear the scene.

Park in Mt. Pleasant and hop onto the running path...the elevation change can’t be found anywhere else nearby and the views of the city are awesome. Down and back will easily get you ~5 miles.

🏃🏼‍♀️BRIDGE RUN UPDATE: Per the CDC and DHEC, the bridge run is lifting their vaccine or negative test requirement for the race on April 2nd. They will provide masks and hand sanitizing stations for those who want them.
