BRUCE HORNSBY & THE NOISEMAKERS Spirit Trail 25th Anniversary Tour WED . SEP 6 , 2023 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $56.50 - $82 Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse, collaborative, and adventurous careers in contemporary music. Drawing from a vast wellspring of American musical traditions, the singer/pianist/composer/bandleader has created a large and accomplished body of work and employed a vast array of stylistic approaches. Throughout this period, Hornsby has maintained the integrity, virtuosity and artistic curiosity that have been hallmarks of his work from the start. Hornsby and his band The Range’s first album The Way It Is (1986) was steadily and slowly building in popularity in the U.S. when in August the title track exploded on BBC Radio One in England, then Europe, the rest of the world and finally in the United States. The record went on to sell three million records, the band played Saturday Night Live and opened for Steve Winwood, John Fogerty, Huey Lewis, the Grateful Dead and the Eurythmics before becoming headliners on their own tour supported by Crowded House. Soon Hornsby was being approached regularly to collaborate with a broad range of musicians and writers, a demand that continues to this day. He has played on records for Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Bonnie Raitt (piano on her iconic “I Can’t Make You Love Me”), Willie Nelson, Don Henley, Bob Seger, Squeeze, Stevie Nicks, Chaka Khan, Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Bon Iver, Leon Russell, Chris Whitley, Warren Zevon, Bernie Taupin, Brandon Flowers (of the Killers), Cowboy Junkies, Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck, Randy Scruggs, Hillary Scott, the Wild Magnolias, Clint Black, Sara Evans, Clannad and many more. He has worked on his own records with Ornette Coleman, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Sting, Elton John, Mavis Staples, Phil Collins, Pat Metheny, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, Justin Vernon, and James Mercer (of The Shins) among others. Along with his early co-writer Jonathan Hornsby and latter-day partner Chip deMatteo, Bruce has co-written songs with Robert Hunter (the great Grateful Dead lyricist), Justin Vernon, Robbie Robertson, Don Henley, Leon Russell, Charlie Haden, Chaka Khan, and Jack DeJohnette. His songs have been recorded by another broad array of artists including Tupac Shakur (his iconic “Changes”), Akon, Bon Iver, Snoop Dogg, Chaka Khan, E-40, Don Henley, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, Mase, Randy Scruggs, and Robbie Robertson. Over the years Hornsby has successfully ventured into bluegrass, jazz, classical, and even electronica, reflected on acclaimed releases like two projects with Ricky Skaggs- Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby (2007) and the live Cluck Ol’ Hen (2013), the jazz trio album Camp Meeting (2007) with Jack DeJohnette and Christian McBride, and Solo Concerts (2014), a stylistic merging of traditional American roots music and the dissonance and adventure of modern classical music. This latter-day interest led to an orchestral project spearheaded by Michael Tilson Thomas featuring this new music; the first performance occurred in January 2015 with Thomas’ New World Symphony, and the latest concert with more new material came in June 2018 at his Funhouse Fest with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. His three Grammy wins ( along with his ten Grammy losses!) typify the diversity of his career: Best New Artist (1986) as leader of Bruce Hornsby and the Range, Best Bluegrass Recording (1989) for a version of his old Range hit “The Valley Road” that appeared on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will The Circle Be Unbroken Volume Two, and a shared award with Branford Marsalis in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental for “Barcelona Mona”, a song written and performed for the 1992 Olympic Games. The sales stats and breadth of his collaborations (including being sampled many times by rap/hip-hop artists) speak volumes about Hornsby’s unique fusion of mainstream appeal and wild musical diversity. His albums have sold over eleven million copies worldwide. Harbor Lights (1993) won the Downbeat Reader’s Poll Album of the Year in 1994. Tupac Shakur co-wrote a new song over “The Way It Is” music called “Changes”; it was a major worldwide hit in 1998, selling 15 million copies. In 2006 his 4 CD set Intersections was selected as one of the best boxed sets of the year by the New York Times. His song “Levitate” was selected in 2011 by Sports Illustrated as one of the top 40 sports songs of all time. Bruce and his current band The Noisemakers’ latest record (a collection featuring Bruce on the Appalachian dulcimer) Rehab Reunion (2016) entered the Billboard album chart at 101, marking his tenth album appearance on the venerable chart over a thirty-year period. In 2016 the annual Rolling Stone “Hot List” selected Bruce as “Hot Surprise Influence”, citing his influence and inspiration on such modern artists as Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Ryan Adams. Throughout the years Hornsby has participated in several memorable events: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opening concert in September 1995 (with the performance included on the concert album), Farm Aid IV and VI, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival (many times), the Newport Jazz Festival (2007), New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival (1997 and 2011), Woodstock II (1994), Woodstock III (1999, with the band’s performance included on the concert album), and the Bonnaroo Festival (2011). Hornsby, solo and with Branford Marsalis, has performed the National Anthem for many major events including the NBA All-Star game, four NBA Finals, the 1997 World Series Game 5, the night Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig’s all-time consecutive game streak, and the soundtrack to Baseball: A Film by Ken Burns. Most recently he was a special guest of Bon Iver for their set at the Coachella festival in April 2017, and sat in with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) twice in December 2017 and once in Eau Claire, WI in 2018. Bruce’s long involvement with the Grateful Dead began when the group asked him to open two shows in Monterey, CA in the spring of 1987. Bruce and the Range continued to open shows for the Dead in 1988, 1989 and 1990, and after the tragic death of Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland the band asked him to play with them. He started winging it with them with no rehearsal for five nights at Madison Square Garden in September 1990, and played more than 100 shows with them until March 1992. He continued to sit in with the band every year until Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995. He played in the first post-Dead band “The Other Ones” in 1998 (the album The Strange Remain chronicles that tour) and 2000. Bruce reunited with the band for the 50th Anniversary Fare Thee Well concerts in June and July 2015 at Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, CA) and Soldier Field (Chicago). He appears on seven Grateful Dead records including Infrared Roses, So Many Roads and View From The Vault II. Bruce has been part of many tribute records including two Grateful Dead collections, the original Deadicated (1991) and the recent massive compilation curated by the band The National entitled Day of the Dead. He recorded “Black Muddy River” with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Justin’s high school band DeYarmond Edison. Other tribute record appearances include Two Rooms- A Tribute To The Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, a Keith Jarrett tribute, a tribute to The Band, a Fats Domino collection, Ricky Skaggs’ Big Mon – the music of Bill Monroe, and the Jackson Browne tribute record Looking Into You.

City and Colour Mon . Sep 18 , 2023 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $41 - $61 Tragedy has a way of bringing out the best in songwriters. That’s certainly the case for Dallas Green on The Love Still Held Me Near, his seventh studio album under the moniker City and Colour. The 12-track set, arguably the most sonically aggressive and stylistically expansive outing in the City and Colour canon, comes from what Green has acknowledged as the most difficult time in his life. Within the span of a year, he lost two crucial figures – his cousin Nicholas Osczcypko, with whom he played in his first band, and longtime friend, City and Colour producer and engineer Karl Bareham, whose drowning death in Australia while on tour was the direct impetus for The Love Still Held Me Near’s first single, “Meant to Be”. At the time Green was also separated from his wife of (then) 11 years and felt their marriage was “seemingly over.” Green feels those inspirations were vehicles to push The Love Still Held Me Near in its own direction of exploration and discovery. “It’s not specifically about those events,” he says of the album, which was co-produced with longtime band member and multi-instrumentalist Matt Kelly. “It’s just an overarching theme of loss and the idea of trying to get through it.” Though he adds with a small chuckle that “it was like I was having this beautiful, perfect mid-life crisis,” the deeper purpose of the album is “asking good questions about life and then framing it in a way that anyone can find themselves in it. I know the experience I’m writing about on this album is not singular at all; it’s everything we have to deal with as human beings, trying to live and get through it.” The Love Still Held Me Near certainly takes that trip from the emotional depths through the other side and finding a way to, as the closing track says, “Begin Again”. Throughout the album, Green questions the very core of his beliefs, spiritual and otherwise, and in the title track he wonders whether true healing is even possible. He ultimately concludes that it is. Even when he acknowledges that “hope is hanging by a thread” Green sings, “I know the beauty lies in dawn’s early light” and that “it ain’t enough just to be alive/we gotta lean into the love a little before we die.” This is conveyed amidst a soundscape that dresses up the angst, tribulation and catharsis in sophisticated instrumental textures, ranging from waves of ambience to explosions of guitar-driven noise, with a wide array of touchstones in between. “It was all about the love of things,” Green explains. “I had gone through the most negative, terrible aspect of living, and it was the idea that the positive and the love could still keep me, us, and my friends together. I like to write. It’s what I do when I just need to get something off my chest. It makes me feel better.” Hailing from St. Catharines, Ontario, Green started City and Colour in 2005 as a (then) quiet counter to the band he co-founded, hardcore luminaries Alexisonfire, releasing songs via the Internet. They proved so popular with fans that he released City and Colour’s first album,Sometimes, later that year which won the JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year. He has since released five more albums under the moniker, accompanied by a shifting lineup of musicians, and collected 4 JUNO awards, including two Songwriter of the Year awards, plus 1 Triple Platinum, 2 Double Platinum, 6 Platinum, and 1 Gold certification in Canada, and 1 Gold certification in Australia. In 2022, Green was honoured with the SOCAN National Achievement Award in recognition of his philanthropic contributions to music education in Canada. Beyond the legacy of City and Colour, Green teamed up with global icon Alecia Moore (a.k.a. P!nk) to form the folk duo You+Me. The duo’s acclaimed Platinum-certified first record, rose ave., debuted at #4 on the U.S. Top 200 Chart, #1 in Canada, #2 in Australia. Despite that productivity and work ethic, Green went through a dark and also fallow period before The Love Still Held Me Near got on track. Already laid low by the deaths and marital impasse (he and his wife reconciled in the wake of Bareham’s passing), Green concluded a tour on February 29, 2020 and then was hit hard, like so many of his creative colleagues, by the global pandemic that brought the music industry to an abrupt and frightening halt. “I wasn’t really thinking about making music at all,” he recalls. “It was such a strange time for all of us, trying to wrap our heads around what was going on. I spent that spring and summer of 2020 just really trying to dig in and figure out what was going on in my life and who I was and why I had spent my whole life doing this thing that might be gone.” Green was also turning 40 on September 29 of that year, which led to “a crisis of character and contemplation.” Some consolation came via visits from Kelly at Green’s home in Northern Ontario. The two had “a lot of conversations, basically grieving with one another” over Bareham’s death and other issues. “It began the process of trying to figure out what had just happened in 2019,” Green says, “I really started to find the spark again, and then started writing.” The timing coincided with Green regrouping with Alexisonfire during the early stages of the pandemic shutdown to make their first full-length studio album in 13 years, Otherness. Green found himself going from writing nothing to working on material for two contrasting but fulfilling projects. “I’d always joked that if I made music as much as I thought about making music I would have twice as much as I already have,” Green says. “September 2020 to May 2021 was the most creatively explosive period I’ve ever had in my life. In seven months, I wrote and recorded two records, comprising of 22 songs. Quite a ‘comeback’.” During that time, he also recorded and released a two song EP, Low Songs, featuring the tracks “Murderer” and “Sunflower” from one of his longtime favourite bands, Low. Though intensely personal, recording The Love Still Held Me Near was a collective and collaborative process. Recorded at Jukasa Studios in Caledonia, Ontario, Green and Kelly brought together a band of Canadian session stalwarts that included John Sponarski on guitar, Erik Nielsen on bass and Leon Power on drums. “The dudes who played on this record are a unit and have this hidden language like I have with Alexisonfire,” Green notes. “And they’ve known me a long time. They all understood the pain and what these songs are about. They understood me. They understood the way I work, the way I use music to get myself through whatever was going on in my life at the time. And they knew Karl, too, so we were all sort of supporting each other through it.” Mixed by longtime collaborator, and three-time Grammy-winner Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Shania Twain and others), the album features Green’s voice louder than ever before, supported by arrangements that are at once delicate and nuanced but also enormously powerful. “Meant to Be”, for instance, blends acoustic and electric instruments in a sweeping build, while you can hear fingers on strings and necks of guitars during “Fucked it Up”. On songs such as “Bow Down to Love”, “A Little Mercy”, “The Water is Coming”, and the title track, you could swear that Neil Young and Crazy Horse somehow snuck into the City and Colour sessions. With The Love Still Held Me Near, wrapped and ready to come out, Green is, not surprisingly, ready to get this incarnation of City and Colour out on the road to play the songs. Green affirms, “Something I’ve figured out after two decades of doing this is I’m invigorated working with new people and coming up with our own versions of the old songs. We had such a great time in the studio making this record, so even though it will be tough to live through the pain (of the songs) again, I can’t wait to finally be playing with everyone.” That’s the testament of a man who’s faced down challenging times the only way he knows how – with guitar in hand, lyrics on the page and musical comrades at his side. Green’s conviction has been renewed, and rewarded, on The Love Still Held Me Near, and in doing so he’s helped to bolster ours as well.

DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS w/ Special Guest AMERICAN AQUARIUM $35 - $50 On the title track to Welcome 2 Club XIII, Drive-By Truckers pay homage to the Muscle Shoals honky-tonk where founding members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley got their start: a concrete-floored dive lit like a disco, with the nightly promise of penny beer and truly dubious cover bands. “There were no cool bars in town and Club XIII was the best we had—but it wasn’t all that good, and our band wasn’t particularly liked there,” says Hood, referring to the vocalist/guitarists’ former band Adam’s House Cat. “From time to time the owner would throw us a Wednesday night or let us open for a hair-metal band we were a terrible fit for, and everyone would hang out outside until we were done playing. It wasn’t very funny at the time, but it’s funny to us now.” The 14th studio album from Drive-By Truckers—whose lineup also includes keyboardist/guitarist Jay Gonzalez, bassist Matt Patton, and drummer Brad Morgan—Welcome 2 Club XIII looks back on their formative years with both deadpan pragmatism and profound tenderness, instilling each song with the kind of lived-in detail that invites bittersweet reminiscence of your own misspent youth. Produced by longtime Drive-By Truckers collaborator David Barbe and mainly recorded at his studio in Athens, Georgia, Welcome 2 Club XIII took shape over the course of three frenetic days in summer 2021—a doubly extraordinary feat considering that the band had no prior intentions of making a new album. “We had some shows coming up and decided to get together and practice, since we hadn’t even seen each other in a year and a half because of the pandemic,” Hood recalls. “We started demoing song ideas, and pretty soon we realized we had a whole record. It was all sort of magical.” Featuring background vocals from the likes of Margo Price, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, and Mississippi-bred singer/songwriter Schaefer Llana, Welcome 2 Club XIII was recorded live with most songs cut in one or two takes, fully harnessing the band’s freewheeling energy. “For us it’s always about just getting together and having fun, but this time there was the added feeling of being set free after a long time of wondering if we’d ever get to do this again,” notes Cooley. Arriving as the band enters its 26th year, Welcome 2 Club XIII marks a sharp departure from the trenchant commentary of The Unraveling and The New OK (both released in 2020). “All our records are political to some extent, but after making three overtly political records in a row we wanted to do something much more personal,” says Hood. A hypnotic introduction to the album’s sprawling autobiography, “The Driver” kicks off Welcome 2 Club XIII with a seven-minute-long, darkly thrilling epic punctuated with lead-heavy riffs and Llana’s unearthly vocals. “Around the same era of Club XIII, I spent a lot of time driving around late at night when I couldn’t sleep, listening to music loud and often having a beer or two,” says Hood. “Sometimes during those drives I’d have these epiphanies about what to do with my life—like listening to Tim by The Replacements not long after it came out and deciding to drop out of school to try and make this whole band thing work.” The album’s swinging centerpiece, “Welcome 2 Club XIII” spins a sublimely gritty portrait of the spot Cooley sums up as “part disco, part honky-tonk, part place to score cheap cocaine.” With its litany of inside jokes and references to Foghat and The Jim Carroll Band, the track unfolds as a joyful piece of anti-nostalgia, a sentiment perfectly captured in its sing-along-fueled outro (sample lyric: “Our glory days did kinda suck”). Meanwhile, on “Every Single Storied Flameout,” Cooley shares a far more pensive recollection of his younger years. “I wrote that song when my son was turning 16 and going through a rough patch for a bit,” he says. “Luckily, he’s turned it around and he’s doing great now, but it was a tough time for a while. Part of my way of dealing with it was to take ownership of the example I might’ve set, in the hope of leading him out of it.” Graced with the radiant melodies of a three-piece horn section, the result is a spirited anthem merging Cooley’s unsparing self-reflection with a bit of rambling wisdom (e.g., “That part of you that feels alive is wired and can’t be severed from the damage-seeking part of you that runs it/Just don’t embrace it with a vengeance before you’ve even shaved with a razor that you bought with your own money”). Although Welcome 2 Club XIII has its moments of real-time observation (including “Maria’s Awful Disclosures,” on which Cooley connects the dots between early-19th-century anti-immigrant agitprop and the noxious paranoia of QAnon), much of the album serves as a free-flowing coming-of-age memoir. “Cooley and I have been playing together for 37 years now,” Hood points out. “That first band might have failed miserably on a commercial level, but I’m really proud of what we did back then. It had a lot to do with who we ended up becoming.” And while Drive-By Truckers never shy away from illuminating the many shades of grief that come with getting older, Welcome 2 Club XIII ultimately embodies a certain world-weary joie de vivre—an element beautifully encapsulated in one of its final lyrics, from the softly stunning “Wilder Days”: “As the sun gets dizzy watching us as we go spinning around/I find it best to laugh at the absurdity of life above the ground/There’s no comfort in survival, but it’s still the best option that I’ve found.”

I met “Doc” Kupka back in 1968, and gave him an audition. He came in the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power.” The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind.  East Bay Grease defined their sound and landed them with Warner Brothers. Bump City, their 1972 debut for the label, was a hit on both the Billboard 200 and the R&B Albums chart, and netted them the hits “You’re Still A Young Man” and “Down to The Nightclub.” The 70s were a boom period with radio classics like “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?,” and the band continued to tour and record over the years. Castillo says their love of the stage is the same today as it was back in 1968. 50 years later, in 2018, they returned to Oakland to celebrate their landmark 50th anniversary. Tower’s window-rattling grooves and raucous party spirit has been a balm for the soul throughout their half-century existence, but the release of 50 Years of Funk & Soul: Live at the Fox Theater couldn’t have arrived at a better time. The band has long since surpassed Castillo’s modest aspirations, traveling the world, enjoying hit singles on their own and backing legendary artists including Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, the Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker, Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, and countless others. In the process they’ve defined an “Oakland soul” sound as instantly recognizable as those from Castillo’s hometown, Detroit, as well as inspirations like Memphis and Philadelphia.  The future of Tower of Power is set out to be vigorous and dynamic, and will prove to be just that for fans around the world starved for the band’s groove just the way Tower of Power likes it!

Steve Treviño – America’s Favorite Husband Tour Fri . Nov 17 , 2023 DOORS: 6:00PM / SHOW: 7:00PM $35 - $45 Comedian Steve Treviño is “America’s Favorite Husband.” He can “speak wife fluently,” he never calls “the guys” for help on a home project, and he knows better than to “make his own decisions,” since decision-making is a privilege reserved solely for his wife, Renae. His relatable approach affirms his status as one of the country’s fastest-rising comics, viewed over 223 million times, selling out shows coast-to-coast, amassing over 2 million total social media followers, and headlining specials for Amazon, NETFLIX, Showtime, and more. He started cutting his teeth in Dallas, Texas, working as a door guy at the Improv and earning himself a spot to open the iconic 2001 Three Amigos Comedy Tour. He quickly earned his stripes and an audience on the comedy club circuit, and he began headlining on his own by the age of 25. He delivered side-splitting performances on The Late Late Show and Comics Unleashed, and produced and wrote for international GRAMMY® Award-winning superstar Pitbull’s La Esquina. His first Showtime special, Grandpa Joe’s Son, staked out a spot in the Nielsen Top 20. He funded, produced, and shot his 2014 runaway NETFLIX hit Relatable. To promote the special, he uploaded a clip titled “When Your Wife Comes Home From Shopping.” It exploded, generating 56 million views on Facebook alone and paving the way for heavily shared clips such as “When You Ask Your Wife If She Wants McDonald’s” (21 million views) and “When Going to Vegas With Your Wife Goes Wrong” (4 million views). Co-produced by Nacelle, the follow-up special, Steve Trevino ’Til Death, arrived in 2018. Steve maintained his momentum by broadening his social media presence through fans redoing bits of his comedy specials and posting them to TikTok. In less than two years, that grassroots effort helped him build a worldwide fanbase on the platform from the ground up, amassing 4.8 million likes and over 50 million views on the platform, while also changing up his entire social media game. In 2020, he and his wife, Renae, unveiled a joint weekly podcast entitled “Steve Treviño and Captain Evil,” that has generated over 1.5 million views/streams and is now in Season 3. He also filmed his fourth self-produced comedy special, My Life in Quarantine, which was picked up by Amazon Prime. The once-in-a-lifetime pandemic special was shot in front of a masked, socially distant crowd and focused on the ups and downs of getting through quarantine. He regularly raises money for Helicopters for Heroes, an organization benefiting veterans, for whom he helped raise over $1.5 million in the past two years. Steve’s self produced fifth special filmed in Waco, Texas, entitled I Speak Wife, independently released on Friday, October 21, for free exclusively to his global audience on YouTube.

Ginger Minj’s Winter Wonderland! A Christmas Musical and Drag Spectacular w/ Gidget Galore & Hosted by Patti O'Furniture Wed . Dec 6 , 2023 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $25 - $30 | $15 Meet & Greet Cast Meet and Greet – $15 Add On When Checking Out Join us for a post show meet and greet with the cast. The meet and greet will include a chance to go on the stage with the queens, say hello, and get a fancy photo. Each person must have a meet and greet ticket to join. You can purchase in advance or at the event. about the show We are thrilled to bring back Ginger Minj’s Winter Wonderland! A Christmas Musical and Drag Spectacular Feat. Gidget Galore in what has become a Holiday tradition here at CMH. Ginger competed in Season 7 and All Stars Season 2 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and we cannot wait to see her jingle bell rock. This show has it all: song, dance, comedy, costumes, and enough Holiday cheer to get you through the days with your in laws GINGER MINJ GINGER HAS LONG REIGNED AS THE COMEDY QUEEN OF THE SOUTH, WITH THE PAGEANT TITLES, INCLUDING “MISS GAY UNITED STATES 2013,” “MISS NATIONAL COMEDY QUEEN 2012” The self-professed “nicest bitch you’ll ever meet” cites classic funny ladies Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball as her idols. “Anyone who can pile three wigs on their head, squeeze their body into a beaded and rhinestoned gown and serve humor alongside the glamour is my hero,” says Ginger. That’s why she coined the term “Glamour Toad” to describe her unique persona. Ginger can be seen all over TV and movies including TNTs “Good Behavior”, Netflix’s “Dumplin’”,“Super Drags”, and “AJ and the Queen, Amazon Primes “The Coco Fondu Show” and Comedy Central’s “At Midnight with Chris Hardwick”! Gingers newest album “GummyBear” comes out in late 2020! GIDGET GALORE Gidget Galore has been a professional Orlando female impersonator since 2006. Gidget has enjoyed entertaining the night club circuit, corporate galas, public (and private) events and, most recently, was honored by the Mayor of Orlando with his Matching Grant as the hostess of “Drag Queen Story Hour” reading to the wonderful youngsters of Orlando at the gay and lesbian center. PATTI O’FURNITURE Patti O’Furniture was born out of a dare from the students of college professor Pat Patterson in the fall of 1999 and has followed a very non-traditional path into female impersonation ever since. Called the “yard sale with legs” because most of her initial costumes were gifts from other entertainers and fans, her mix of professionalism and quick wit have earned her a spot as one of the most sought-after emcees in the region. She first hit the stage on October 11, 1999 and has been entertaining audiences across the country ever since. From Los Angles to Boston and New York to New Orleans, she has worked at some of the most legendary clubs and with too many RuPaul’s Drag Race queens to count – but she’s a Southern girl at heart and will always be proud to call the Carolinas home. A fixture on the Charleston drag scene from her annual hosting of Charleston Pride or Big Gay Bingo for Palmetto Community Care, for the past two years she has hosted a monthly drag brunch show at Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company as well as and drag bingo at Pounce Cat Cafe. Patti can also be seen hosting the longest running drag show in Columbia, SC at PT’s 1109 on Assembly Street every Tuesday at 9pm. On Saturday nights, she hosts the SEXY SATURDAY Drag Show at the Bar @ 316 in Charlotte, NC where she has worked for the past eight years. In 2006 she was chosen as Miss South Carolina Pride but doesn’t need a title to support PRIDE where ever she goes. For the past several years, she has served as host and emcee for the Charlotte Pride, Salisbury (NC) Pride and Upstate SC Pride Festivals. For seven years, she hosted the SC Pride Parade live on WXRY 99.3 FM in Columbia. In 2010, Patti was crowned Miss Red Ribbon Friends in Myrtle Beach and spent her reign raising money for HIV/AIDS services along the SC coast. In 2012, she was presented with the crown and title of Vista Queen Emeritus for her fundraising for Trustus Theatre in Columbia where she help raise over $75,000. One thing has remained consistent since that very first show: every dollar that Patti collects on stage gets donated back to the community. All of her tips are donated to causes including HIV/AIDS prevention and education, animal welfare, LGBT civil rights, the environment and a host of local arts organizations. To date, she has raised over $1.5 million… one dirty dollar bill at a time!

The Wood Brothers: Heart Is The Hero Tour - The Wood Brothers have learned to trust their hearts. For the better part of two decades, they’ve cemented their reputation as freethinking songwriters, road warriors, and community builders, creating a catalog of diverse music and a loyal audience who’ve grown alongside them through the years. That evolution continues with Heart is the Hero, the band’s eighth studio album. Recorded analog to 16-track tape, this latest effort finds its three creators embracing the chemistry of their acclaimed live shows by capturing their performances in real-time direct from the studio floor with nary a computer in sight. An acoustic-driven album that electrifies, Heart is the Hero is stocked with songs that target not only the heart, but the head and hips, too. “We love records that come from the era of less tracks and more care,” explains co-founder Oliver Wood. “When you use a computer during the tracking process, you have an infinite number of tracks at your disposal, which implies that nothing is permanent, and everything can be fixed. Tape gives you limitations that force you to be creative and intentional. You don’t look at the music on a screen; you listen to it, and you learn to focus on the feeling of the performance.” Throughout Heart Is The Hero, those performances are matched by the visceral storytelling and songwriting chops that have turned The Wood Brothers into Grammy-nominated leaders of American roots music, even as their music reaches far beyond the genre’s borders. The stripped- down swagger of “Pilgrim” underscores Oliver’s reminder to slow down and experience each moment as an interactive observer, rather than a passive tourist. A similar theme anchors “Between the Beats,” where Oliver draws upon a meditation technique — maintaining one’s focus on the space between heartbeats — to reach a new level of presence. The gentle sway of country soul gem “Rollin’ On,” featuring horns by Matt Glassmeyer and Roy Agee, expounds on the time- honored tradition of love as the guiding light through darkness, while ”Mean Man World” finds Chris Wood singing about his responsibilities as a father whose young daughter is poised to inherit an uncertain future. “Line Those Pockets” is a universal call for mercy and understanding over materialism. “Everybody’s just trying to be happy, so put your money away; line those pockets with grace,” the band sings in three-part harmony during the song’s chorus, which emphasizes compassion over cash as the world’s true currency. Together, these songs offer a snapshot of a spirited, independent-minded group at the peak of its powers, always pushing forward and seeking to evolve beyond what’s come before. “There’s still acoustic guitar, upright bass, and percussion on this album — things people use all the time — but we’re always thinking, ‘How can we make this sound like us, but not like something we’ve already done?'” Oliver says. “Sometimes, the only way to do that is to get weird.” That sense of exploration pumps its way through Heart is the Hero like lifeblood. Arriving on the heels of 2019’s Live at The Fillmore, 2020’s Kingdom In My Mind, and Oliver Wood’s solo album Always Smilin’ — all of which were released on Honey Jar Records, the band’s independent label — Heart is the Hero is bold, bright, and singularly creative, a fully realized collective effort ultimately greater than the sum of its parts. Perhaps that’s to be expected from a group whose willingness to experiment has earned acclaim from Rolling Stone and NPR, as well as an annual touring schedule of sold-out music halls and theaters on both sides of the Atlantic. Ask The Wood Brothers, though, and they’ll tell you to expect the unexpected. “We are never satisfied if we are not searching for new musical recipes,” says Jano Rix, nodding to the uncharted territory that Heart is the Hero covers. Chris Wood agrees, adding, ” We are one of those bands that isn’t easily categorized. We know what our strengths are, but we can’t help but push the envelope, as well. It’s too much fun.”

Charleston Music Hall Presents: Blue Dogs 11th Annual Homecoming Concert Fri . Dec 29 , 2023 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $25 - $50 VIP $150 VIP Receives – The Best Seats in the House – A Specialty VIP Lanyard – A Specialty VIP Blue Dogs Poster – Their First Drink is Free Charleston’s Blue Dogs return to the Charleston Music Hall on Friday, December 29, 2023 for their an annual concert that began with their 25th Anniversary Show in 2013. The show will mark the band’s 36th anniversary since beginning in the Fall of 1987, and it will continue the Blue Dogs’ effort to raise money for the only exclusively pediatric oncology researcher in the state of South Carolina: Dr. Jacqueline Kraveka at MUSC Children’s Health. After 2019’s triumphant CMH show with the likes of Jerry Douglas and Alison Krauss appearing with the band, the pandemic prevented the 2020 show. While the show resumed in 2021, standard precautions prevented them from participating in fundraising activities for MUSC. They resumed fundraising with the 2022 show, although with only two sponsors and less fanfare, but had a wonderful show that featured Kristian Bush of Sugarland and his original band Billy Pilgrim, along with Justin Osborne of Susto. Between 2013 and 2022, primarily due to the contributions of sponsors and fans, the Blue Dogs Homecoming shows have raised over $450,000 for Dr. Kraveka’s work. The hope and expectation for 2023, is that with the help of a full roster of sponsors and a sold out show, that total will surpass the $500,000 mark by the end of the evening. As with previous shows, special guests will be announced later in the Fall. For more information, go to www.charlestonmusichall.com or www.bluedogs.com.

The Commodores - For three decades, the Commodores have remained a force in the music industry. “The Legends of Motown”, “Hit, After Hit, After Hit”, “Grammy Award Winners”, “All The Emotion, All the Excitement”, “If You Haven’t Seen Them Live, You Haven’t Heard The Commodores”. The Commodores aren’t just any group. They have staying power. Just like their hit song “Brick House,” the Commodores have created a foundation that just won’t budge. After churning out hit after hit in the Motown days, the Commodores still hadn’t achieved Grammy recognition. This wasn’t to be until 1986, without Lionel Richie, when the Commodores released “Night Shift”. In 1968 the group was formed while all the members were in college at Tuskeegee Institute. After being discovered by Berry Gordy, the Commodores went on to sell over 60 million records for Motown. With hits like “Machine Gun” and “Sail On”, the Commodores became proven artists. They proved it then. They proved it in 1986 with “Night Shift”, and now they are ready to prove it again. Unlike many other groups, the Commodores haven’t rested on their early hits. Quite the contrary, the Commodores have continued to put out quality work. With the creation of their new label, the Commodores released Commodores Hits Vol. I, Commodores Hits Vol. II, Commodores Christmas, and Commodores XX-No Tricks. The newest CD “Commodores Live” was recorded during the groups 1997 U.S. tour and released in December 1998 along with the TV special of the same name. The Commodores believe in their work, but they are not the only ones: “Seventies phenoms return with a self produced album filled with some great music. The Commodores look set for a fantastic return.” …BRE Music Report “Venerable pop/R&B band issues its first single in five years engaging vocals woo with warmth and restraint.” …Billboard The successful Commodores of the present have not only produced six new albums, and embarked upon a world-wide tour, but have created their own record label, Commodores Records and Entertainment. Today the Commodores stand not only as talented and successful musicians, but as artists determined to continue their success into the future.

ZOSO – THE ULTIMATE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE  FRI . JAN 12 , 2024 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $25 - $40 Zoso – The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating  Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it’s much more than just being a tribute. It’s about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightlywound talent and authenticity. Each band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their  Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes, Zoso’s 2400 live shows around the world, including a slot at  Bonnaroo in 2003, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market.  Zoso’s live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening  back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It’s in the way they play: Each band member’s  mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spoton vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards,  their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates  the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members  constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new, diehard  Zeppelin fans.  Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim,  name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being “head  and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes,” and the Chicago SunTimes declared Zoso is “the  closest to the original of any tribute.” If you missed Led Zeppelin live in the 70’s or are looking to relive the “Hammer of the Gods” phenomenon,  you must experience

Gipsy Kings Wed . Feb 7 , 2024 DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $49.50 - $99.50 Nicolas Reyes has been the leader and co-founder of the Gipsy Kings for well over 30 years. In the past three decades, they have dominated the World Music charts and sold more than 14 million albums worldwide. Their platinum compilation, The Best of the Gipsy Kings, was charting for over a year upon its release and their ninth studio album, Savor Flamenco, was awarded the Grammy for Best World Music Album in 2013. This iconic legacy began when Nicolas’ father, Jose Reyes, formed a celebrated flamenco duo with Manitas de Plata (which boasted fans as famed as Miles Davis and Pablo Picasso). When the pair parted ways, the elder Reyes became even more popular upon starting his own band, backed by his son, called Los Reyes. In later years, Nicolas headed out on his own and began playing in the town of Arles in the south of France. He traveled throughout the country, busking on the streets of Saint-Tropez, playing wherever he could. Having adopted the perpetual motion of the gypsy lifestyle, his band eventually translated “Los Reyes” and became the Gipsy Kings. The band’s music went on to fuse with popular culture. In addition to the accolades above, the traveling Gipsy Kings have played some of the world’s greatest stages, from the Hollywood Bowl to Royal Albert Hall as well as hitting the big screen. Their rendition of “Hotel California” was included in the film The Big Lebowski and the HBO series Entourage. The 2010 film Toy Story 3 featured a Gipsy Kings version of the movie’s popular, Randy Newman-penned theme, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”. The Gipsy Kings recently featured in a Big Lebowski spinoff The Jesus Rolls with Reyes appearing in person with the director and star, John Turturro, for some of the promotion. As active as this remarkable collective remains, they are also confident in the future of their legacy. “Even though it’s been 30 years, we want to keep on making new music because it’s our life. It’s who we are,” says Nicolas Reyes. “But I think there will be a time when we pass down the Gipsy Kings to our sons”. 30 years is an eternity in pop music but the story of the Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes has the depth to endure. Theirs is a music that extends through generations, to the sounds of their ancestors—Spanish Romani people who fled the Catalonia region during the Spanish Civil War—and reflects the vibrantly eclectic and peripatetic history of the gitanos

Hari Kondabolu is a comedian, writer and podcaster based in Brooklyn. The NY Times called him “one of the most exciting political comics in stand-up today” and described his 2018 Netflix special Warn Your Relatives as “an incisively funny and formally adventurous hour that reveals a comic in command of his powers.” The special was named on many “Best of” lists, including for Time, Paste Magazine, Cosmopolitan, E! Online, and Mashable. He was also named one of 2018’s “Comics To Watch” by Variety. Hari currently hosts the new Netflix food competition series Snack vs Chef along with Megan Stalter. In 2017, his truTV documentary The Problem with Apu was released to critical acclaim and spurred a global conversation about race and representation. The Nation called it “a devastating critique of the ultimate comedic sacred cow: The Simpsons.” It is now used in high school, college and grad school curriculums around the US. Hari has also released two comedy albums, Waiting for 2042 & Mainstream American Comic with legendary indie rock label Kill Rock Stars. Additionally, he has performed on such shows as Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show with David Letterman among many others. He is also a former writer & correspondent on the much loved, Chris Rock produced FX show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. A regular on the public radio, Hari is a panelist on the NPR game show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me. As a podcaster, he co-hosted the popular Politically Reactive with dear friend W. Kamau Bell. Additionally, he also co-hosts what he politely describes as a “pop up podcast,” The Untitled Kondabolu Brothers Podcast with his younger brother Ashok (“Dap” from HBO’s Chillin’ Island and defunct rap group Das Racist.) Hari attended both Bowdoin College and Wesleyan University, graduating from the former institution with a B.A. in Comparative Politics. A former immigrant rights organizer in Seattle who worked under the leadership of now-Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Hari also earned a Masters in Human Rights from the London School of Economics in 2008. He was the “Artist In Residence” at NYU’s APA Institute for the 2014-2015 Academic Year and at Shangri La Museum in Honolulu in 2018.

Hunter Hayes: The Red Sky Tour $35 - $50 Not so long ago, Hunter Hayes let go. Of the expectations. Of the pressure. Of the necessity to follow a specific formula for his career. A five-time Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and the youngest male act ever to top the Billboard Hot Country song chart, Hayes was ready to lean into a mindset he’d always carried with him: that genres are fluid, and, in his eyes, the best musicians are the ones able to play with all sorts of sounds and styles. “All of my favorite artists are the ones who went about their career making their own rules,” says Hayes, a rare and highly respected talent with a knack for authentic songwriting and for forging a true connection with his fans. “I knew then I had to tap into whatever’s been put on my creative heart. Let’s start there.” Following a decade of playing by the rules and sticking to country music conventions, Hayes is, at last, doubling down on his ever-searching musical mindset: throwing genre conventions out the window, playing with “all the sounds” he’s influenced by, and, most importantly, trusting himself in his quest to lean into his pop and alternative rock influences. Or, in other words, as Hayes succinctly puts it: “I’m creating my own rules to play by so I don’t have to play by anyone else’s.” It’s this new no-holds-barred mindset that’s resulted in some of Hayes’ most inspired music yet. On his forthcoming new album, Red Sky, the singer-songwriter is executing at the highest level of his musical career: crafting memorable melodies and instantly catchy hooks albeit with a top-notch musician’s discerning ear. “It was a completely different way of thinking,” Hayes says excitedly of his approach to the new LP and, for that matter, his career moving forward. “I’ve gone from being plugged into the system to building my own system.” The 31-year-old Hayes, who says he wants every one of his albums to feel like a different era, has always been one to buck conventions. It’s hardly a surprise then to hear the Breaux Bridge, Louisiana native speak so candidly about his desire — no, need — to take ownership of his career and music. Signed to a record deal at age 18, “there was this understanding that I had no idea what I was doing and needed to learn the proper way,” he explains looking back. “So yeah, I wanted to believe there was one right way to do everything — producing, song selections, putting things out to radio, touring, etc. This created this odd environment where I listened to myself less than I should have. “I started mentally making a note of all the things I felt weren’t right and what would I do instead,” Hayes continues. “And after a while, I realized there’d always been this desire to create my own corner. And not just copy and paste what was working.” This norm-defying mentality — of no longer sticking to the script and instead letting his musical sensibility guide him — goes a long way in explaining why Hayes says he’s never been happier or more engaged with the music he’s creating. And it shows in the boundary-pushing songs he’s set to release: from the upbeat pop of “Sober” to the harmony-drenched “Feelings” to the chant-along chorus on lead single “Missing You.” “It was my first time in 10 years of songwriting sessions where anything could happen,” Hayes says excitedly of the risk-taking meetups with some of his most trusted collaborators. The result? Career-defining songs. “There was so much experimenting,” he adds noting how refreshing this was from his previous experience. “It was beautiful.” In an effort to expand beyond his country past, Hayes enlisted a team of respected pop maestros for his new project: he tapped a crew of talented pop songwriters to help him craft bold new tunes. The quote-worthy “Missing You,” (“Some roads take you nowhere/some roads take you back/but the closest to heaven was on Highway 27/I’ve never been lost like that”), Hayes, says, is the culmination of two years of discerning what Red Sky would look like.” Written with Kevin Griffin (Taylor Swift, Train, Patrick Droney) and Dan Book (Britney Spears, All Time Low), and with its intricately crafted verses and shout-to-the-heavens hook, it’s readily apparent Hayes zeroed in on his genre-crossing musical mindset for the song. On “Sober,” Hayes teamed up with Rollo (Ava Max, Noah Cyrus, BTS), Alex Delicata (Beyoncé, OneRepublic) and Aaron Zuckerman (Alec Benjamin, LANY) to create a genre-bending song that combines his musicality with both modern and retro production. According to Hayes, it’s years of pent-up energy and receiving constant pushback when he’d take major musical risks that are now leading him to craft such inspired music. “Because it’s all stuff I’d wanted to do previously,” he admits. “My demos have always been really weird, and I’ve always stripped them down to make them more palatable. So I was constantly between a rock and a hard place of writing too safe of songs and pushing the boundaries. I don’t think I would be making this type of music had I not been holding off on doing so for so long.” The reaction from those around him has been nothing short of resounding: when he’s played his new music to longtime friends, “they’ve all been like ‘Where has this been?!’ he recalls with a laugh. What Hayes realized then is he needed to steer his own ship. Do it for himself. Not for anyone else: “I don’t need to be the architect of someone else’s house. I need to hang all the art on the wall and invite people in.” And to that end, the only people other than himself he needed to answer to were his forever-dedicated fans. “Why was I trying to please anyone other than the people who buy tickets to my show? Because every time I’ve done something gutsy they’ve gotten it,” he says referencing as an example his 2019 LP, the fan-favorite Wild Blue, which he played in full at a recent, exhilarating live show. Live shows, it turns out, have never been more essential to Hayes’ happiness. Following a hiatus from gigs during the pandemic, the adrenaline junkie of a live performer says he’s never been more exhilarated to hit the stage on a consistent basis. “I realized that I can’t live without playing live shows. There’s so much I get from it. It’s not even validation. It’s life-giving,” he says. “It’s everything that I love in one place.”' Where he heads next is, Hayes, as exciting a prospect as the freedom he now enjoys in his music and career. “Because there’s been so much personal growth lately,” he says proudly. “This is definitely the clearest I’ve ever been.”

The Mummy Film Screening A Brenaissance Celebration Who does not love a comeback story!? After his current Oscar win for Best Actor in The Whale, Brendan Fraser is having a moment. We wanted to celebrate this 90s hunk by showing one of our favorite Fraser films, The Mummy! We think this below excerpt from Alex Muniz says it best: “The late ‘90s saw Fraser rise to fame as Hollywood’s next heartthrob. From his shredded appearance in “George of the Jungle” to his boy-next-door charm in “Gods and Monsters,” there was no escaping the inexplicable allure of his tanned skin and piercing blue eyes. But where Fraser really excelled was in “The Mummy” series. Fraser plays a swash-buckling explorer named Rick, who traverses the sandy plains of Egypt, slaying ancient demons and stealing the hearts of all who lay eyes on him. The film premiered in 1999 and was a global success, earning a whopping $416.4 million in box-office sales. This cemented Fraser as a Hollywood mainstay, but it also marked the beginning of a series of events that would significantly damage his career. “While filming “The Mummy” series, Fraser was responsible for performing all his stunts. The series spanned almost a decade, so the injuries piled up. By the time the third installment, “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” was released, he had undergone multiple surgeries; Fraser described his body as “put together with tape and ice.” Due to the amount of damage done to his body, Fraser took a much needed break from the spotlight and spent many years recovering in privacy. Unfortunately, this caused speculation that his career was over. As the onslaught of rumors surrounding Fraser’s disappearance increased, his struggles, which accumulated from his performances and time in the spotlight, only worsened. In 2016, Fraser buried his mother. He later stated in his 2018 GQ interview “I think I was in mourning, and I didn’t know what that meant.” This was in response to a viral 2016 interview for AOL’s BUILD series, where he appeared sullen and morose. In that same GQ interview, Fraser claimed that the former President of the Hollywood Foreign Press association, Philip Berk, sexually assaulted him in 2003 at a lunch party at the Beverley Hills Hotel. Fraser described how this experience changed his perspective on the entertainment industry, causing him to feel helpless and sick. He told GQ “[I] became depressed. I was blaming myself and I was miserable — because I was saying, ‘This is nothing; this guy reached around and he copped a feel.’ [Work] withered on the vine for me. In my mind, at least something had been taken away from me.” After this event, Fraser claims he felt blacklisted by Hollywood, and was rarely invited to the Golden Globes. When the opportunity to star in the A24 feature film, “The Whale,” came knocking, he felt as though things were finally turning around. As news spread about Fraser’s return to the silver screen, people all over social media celebrated. Fans expressed their excitement to see Fraser finally receive the praise he deserved, calling his return to film the “Brenaissance.” While on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Fraser discussed his deep appreciation for fans’ reactions to “The Whale.” “I just broke out crying. That solved all the problems. I feel like I’m still waiting for someone to walk in and tell me that the jig is up.” From a decade’s worth of struggles to a triumphant return to Hollywood, Fraser’s story is a glimmer of hope in the challenging world of acting. Fraser is far from the only actor to struggle with the entertainment industry; Amanda Bynes has publicly condemned Hollywood for her treatment, and Lindsey Lohan only recently found the strength to make a small comeback in Netflix’s “Falling for Christmas.” Despite the many other examples of Hollywood failing its actors, the entertainment industry seems to be changing for the better. Hopefully, Fraser’s return is indicative of changing times, and more entertainers will come out of the woodwork to an industry that welcomes them with open arms.”

Amythyst Kiah Drag Concert on Wednesday, June 16th - DOORS: 7:00PM / SHOW: 8:00PM $20 – Reduced capacity and implemented social distancing – Face masks are required at all times – Seating is pre-assigned and sold in groups of 2s & 4s to maintain social distance With an unforgettable voice that’s both unfettered and exquisitely controlled, the Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter expands on the uncompromising artistry she most recently revealed as part of Our Native Daughters, an all-women-of-color supergroup whose Kiah-penned standout “Black Myself” earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best American Roots Song and won Song of the Year at the 2019 Folk Alliance International Awards. When met with the transcendent quality of her newly elevated sound, what emerges is an extraordinary vessel for Kiah’s songwriting: a raw yet nuanced examination of grief, alienation, and the hard-won triumph of total self-acceptance. This new studio version of “Black Myself” is a glorious collision of two vastly different worlds: the iconoclastic alt-rock that first sparked her musical passion, and the roots/old-time-music scene.

LEONID & FRIENDS: A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC OF CHICAGO WED . MAY 10 , 2023 DOORS: 6:30PM / SHOW: 7:30PM $22.50 - $95 With multiple sold-out U.S. tours under its belt and hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, Leonid & Friends continues to astound its global audience with its unique ability in capturing the spirit, musicality, and fire of American supergroup Chicago. And what is even more stunning is that Leonid & Friends, comprised of 11 of the finest musicians in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus, haven’t seen Chicago perform live, yet replicates the band’s complex arrangements amazingly note for note. Chicago has never been in Russia, and none of us have attended their concerts,” said Leonid Vorobyev, a multi-instrumentalist who is the band’s leader. “We have only recordings and videos (to help us learn Chicago songs).” Ironically, Vorobyev wasn’t always a fan of horn bands, and as a teenager gravitated to the hard-driving guitar-based sounds of the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, and Grand Funk Railroad. “In the early 1970s in the USSR, electric guitars, amplifiers, and drums were rare to find so at school we were playing self-made instruments,” Vorobyev explained. “We were allowed to rehearse in the same room with a horns band. Those musicians almost always were drunk and quite often tried to play with us our rock songs. It was a nightmare, and I hated them all!” But that all changed when Vorobyev heard Chicago. He became an instant fan. “I loved so much the brilliant mixture of rock guitars, drums, and jazz horns with bright vocal harmonies,” he said. In 2014, Vorobyev decided to indulge his love for the band by gathering a few fellow musicians in a studio to record a video of them playing his favorite Chicago tune, Brand New Love Affair. No charts or scores of the song existed so Vorobyev transcribed the tune by ear. The result was a YouTube video that quickly went viral. Since then Leonid & Friends has recorded videos of other Chicago hits including Make Me Smile, 25 or 6 to 4, and Saturday In The Park. All total the videos have received more than 50 million views. Also, Leonid & Friends has recorded two albums showcasing its tribute to Chicago. The process of getting each tune just right is a painstaking labor of love. In addition to scoring and arranging, Vorobyev oversees mixing and mastering of each song. However, he credits his highly skilled bandmates for making each tune sing. “All of my musician friends are highly professional,” he said. However, Leonid & Friends hasn’t been satisfied with merely connecting with fans through videos and recordings. In early 2019, the band embarked on its first tour outside of Russia that had fans dancing in the aisles at sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Florida. Two other scorching coast-to-coast U.S. tours followed that same year. “The fans were so eager to see us that some traveled from as far as Hawaii and the Philippines not mentioning flying across the U.S .and driving for hours to attend our shows,” Vorobyev said. “I was expecting a warm greeting but I didn’t expect such a warm reception and with so much love and gratitude for us.” In Los Angeles, the band met its musical heroes, founding members of Chicago, keyboardist Robert Lamm, and drummer Danny Seraphine as well as Michelle Kath Sinclair, daughter of late, great Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. “We were so thrilled that Robert, Danny, and Michelle took the time to visit with us,” Vorobyev said. “It was an experience that we will cherish and remember forever.” When Leonid & Friends isn’t touring, band members are in the studio in Moscow immersing themselves in Chicago’s storied catalog of hits and deep tracks while preparing for the next tour. In September of 2018, the band recorded its first song from legendary supergroup Earth, Wind, & Fire and also paid tribute to the band Blood, Sweat & Tears as well. Borrowing a line from one of Chicago’s biggest hits, “it’s only the beginning” of great things from Leonid & Friends.

Elise Testone’s Amy Winehouse Experience - After Amy Winehouse’s passing in 2011, Elise felt deeply moved to understand the depth of the imprint Amy would forever leave on the world. She thoroughly learned Amy’s music and began to pay tribute to her through live performance which includes many of the original musical elements from Amy’s compositions. With drums, bass, guitar, and keys at its core, the 9 piece band led by Elise also includes trombone or baritone sax, tenor sax, trumpet, and background vocalists. Elise is married to the sentiment of not copying an artist, but to emote their energy fused with her own. This show will include a handful of Testone’s originals as well.
