Today was just one of those days... where disasters keep happening everywhere. Its my only big filming day in the #Seychelles and I’m trying to film an episode of “What Can $10 Get You,” (hence the 135 Rupees you see in the photo) — but it’s been nearly impossible to get sufficient content together. I woke up at 5AM ready to explore Mahe island (the main island), but a rain storm came rolling through which forced me to delay the morning start until 9:30. I wanted to take a bus to catch a ride to the beach (because taxis are outrageously expensive here), but it just so happens to be a public holiday, ‘Constitution Day,’ meaning the bus schedule is running extra slow. Nonetheless, I waited for an hour in the rain, and hopped on the bus. 5 minutes into the ride, there was a bad car accident in road, causing another hour delay and people freaking out. Finally, I made it to the beach, which was enjoyable, except everything is closed. Nowhere to get lunch. So I headed back across the island to #Victoria, the capital city (which is more like a small town), and it was like a ghost town because of the holiday. I found one shop open, owned by a friendly Indian guy, where I got lunch (2 fish samosas), and together we watched two drunk girls fighting on the street directly outside the shop. I wandered around Victoria for another hour, trying to find something open or someone to talk to, but no luck. So I walked 6km back to my hotel and that’s where I am right now trying to recap what just happened today... if you’re still reading this, I applaud your patience 👏🏻as I vent about my day. Please know that I am not hating on the Seychelles and I realize that it’s very shallow to judge a country based on unfortunate events beyond my control. This is also a reminder not to hate on any place based unexpected things (bad weather, breaking your leg, losing your passport, public holidays, etc). It’s all part of the travel experience. I guess I need to come back here for another visit!

My husband and I found complete freedom on these islands, travelling on a budget didn’t effect the quality of our time at all.
