Despite a population of more than 2.5 million people that is still growing, Brooklyn still boasts a long list of abandoned locations that beg for discovery. These buildings, once fruitful and prosperous, have fallen into disrepair and now lay abandoned in various stages of decay. Similar to abandoned buildings in The Bronx, many of these spots have caught the eyes of ambitious developers yearning to give the spot a new life. However, shadows of their former lives remain. Here are 10 abandoned places to discover throughout Brooklyn.

Rave Culture 001: Trym (Color/Exhale) - Emerging DJ from France, Trym aka Sparkling Water Boy cuts the boundaries between HardDance and HardTrance. Owner of the label 'COLOR' and part of 'EXHALE', he released three vinyls up until now, completely mirroring his personality - driven, powerful and polychronic. Being weariless starts to become a regular tendency is Trym's life, performing around Europe and spending an everlasting amount of time behinds his decks practicing and creating. As a new-generation techno artist who has proven himself to deserve his place on the scene and behind the decks at events, Trym has never stopped working hard on his projects, notably investing his time and self in producing music, surrounding himself with a team and always looking towards his future as a musician. A mystery car is up for grabs in NYC. Let's try to find it. As of this writing, there is a car sitting on the corner of Church Avenue in Brooklyn, apparently in the parking lot of a Burger King, that is more or less up for grabs. There are 1,000 keys that unlock this one vehicle – which is rumored to be a Chrysler PT Cruiser, though unconfirmed. An untold number of people already have this key. You can purchase one yourself online for $19, then receive tips about the car’s location through a hotline (337-539-4255). Beyond that, the Keys4All concept is simple* enough to anyone who’s ever played "Grand Theft Auto"...

The MTA is going B.I.G. with limited edition Biggie MetroCards in Brooklyn The cards will be made available starting this Saturday, May 21st, in honor of what would have been Biggie's 50th birthday. They will only be available at four subway stations near his old Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood: Lafayette Avenue, both Clinton – Washington Ave. stations, and Atlantic Ave. – Barclays Center. An MTA spokesperson told Gothamist there will only be 50,000 commemorative Biggie MetroCards released at the four stations. They're going to be randomly loaded into the MetroCard vending machines and "customers are not guaranteed" to get one, so you may have to try your luck a few times to snag one. 📸: Gothamist
