Perth

The South West Australia route starts in Perth, from where we first drive towards Bunbury. To get there, we recommend making your way inland, which not many other people do (or where tourists don’t know anything about!) Most people take the highway from Perth to Bunbury, but it’s much more fun to do some sightseeing along the way isn’t it? You will see some unique places in this area, without any tourists!

The second year, we wanted to work for 6 months in Perth so we looked for an apartment as well, but this time for our own, since the shared house wasn’t really our thing. It was, again, really easy to find a place. Within a few weeks, we had a lovely 1 bedroom apartment close to the beach and with a shared pool! We met some lovely neighbors and living there was super nice. This way, we got a real feel for the true Aussie lifestyle. In the end we almost stayed for a year as told above not everything went to plan.

Boat cruises along the river, food in every corner, shops in every street, sandy beaches along the suburbs, huge Botanic Garden hidden in the big Kings Park, where you can hike and enjoy a picnic. Recommended: Elizabeth Quay. Enjoy and ice cream while walking along the river, and get on a boat tour along the Swan River and you might be in luck of seeing dolphins.

The capital of Western Australia is more than just a city by the coast. Its sunsets by the beach, its people and the food are a hundred percent recommended. There are so many activities to do, like bike rides, Rottnest Island, Kangaroo Island, beach walks, getting lost in Kings Park...
