The villages surrounding the ancient Lake of Ohrid is the most unique and incredible travel experiences of my life. Take a boat tour, explore the many ancient churches, visit the replica of an old city on the water in Stobi, eat traditional Balkan Cuisine, and definitely stay in the Old Town to get an authentic experience.

Macedonia is another country that offers high-quality wine, great budget eats, and cheap public transportation costs. We enjoyed dinners at local, high-end restaurants for under $15 USD for two people. We highly recommend a visit to Lake Ohrid to enjoy one of Europe’s cleanest, most beautiful lakes.
