Vang Vieng
Hot air ballooning in Vang Vieng. You'll be still pinching yourself when you get down from your flight. I've never seen anything more beautiful in my life. Mountains for days - just do it!

Kuang Si Waterfall
Laos has the most pristine natural environment and this waterfall is exemplorary of that. Tiers upon tiers of crystal clear waters, cascading upon each other - it's the most instagramable place in the country.

Get a scooter and explore. Some of the best parts of our trip to Laos included exploring the villages on our scooters. You'll meet the most beautiful local people and be blown away by the mountain ranges. Word of advice - get a dust mask! And don't wear white.

Blue Lagoon and Phu Kham Cave Vang Vieng
Can you tell I loved Vang Vieng? The natural crystal blue lagoons outside the town are something else. Don't make the classic tourist mistake and just stop at Lagoon #1. We enjoyed #3 -#5 the most - but be warned the roads are hectic!

Eat coconut pancakes. Traditional Lao coconut pancakes just melt in your mouth and at less than .50 AUD for a bag of them you'll be coming back every night for more!

MandaLao Elephant Conservation
So many places in South East Asia operate corrupt Elephant tourism businesses, that are extremely cruel and unethical. This place is one of a few doing something different - and offering tourists the most amazing experience to walk and swim with Elephants who are free to roam as they like aroun this conservation site.

Wat May Souva nhnaphoumaham
Get up early and give offerings to the Monks. Alms giving begins at 5:00 am each morning in Luang Prabang. Have your hotel prepare some sticky rice and other offerings for you to give. You must dress modestly and follow the local's lead on how to kneel and present your offerings to the monks. They will come around in silence and accept. A very humbling experience.

Magic Monkey Garden Bungalow
Take in the sunset at Vang Vieng. We stayed at Happy Monkey Garden Bungalows in Vang Vieng and the sunset view from the pool here is unbeatable. The place is very reasonably priced and the staff are amazing. See my instagram profile for the picture we took on the first night - the most amazing hues of pinks and purples - no filter needed!

Pha Ngern View Point
Climb your way to the best mountain view in Vang Vieng. Not for the faint hearted! It takes about 40 minutes to reach the top at a moderate pace. The last 20 metres are very much a rock climbing experience - I experienced some light headedness when reaching the very top! Breathless from the climb and the view! Challenge yourself!

Vientiane
Take in the french aesthetic in Vientiane. I'm not a city girl - so I would suggest only staying one night in Vientiane. But it's worth exploring the capital of Laos - and taking in the beautiful French architecture. Pauxtay Monument is must. Look's beautiful at dusk and dawn!
