Criffel Station Woolshed
I know sounds a little strange but I had so much fun doing this! I went through a company called ridgeline adventures and loved it. We got picked up in a jeep/landrover/off roading truck (yes they pick you up from wherever you're staying in Wanaka) and they drove us to a farm around the lake. Once we got their we went off roading around the hilly farm and got to see a bunch of the sheep, cows, deer that they were raising, we got out and got to feed the sheep, etc. Some of the prettiest views and its just fun to bump around for the afternoon! Also towards the end of the tour they pack a little picnic afternoon tea! I usually am not a huge fan of guided tours so was a little hesitant about this but I ended up really enjoying it and would recommend it to anyone (I went with the family I was nannying for, we brought the whole family 2 - 80 years old, it seriousy is fun and doable for everyone)!

Wanaka
Lake Wanaka is absolutley gorgeous and they have all sorts of fun lake activities, just walk down to the waterfront and you'll be able to find paddle boats/kayaks/boats/etc. to rent!

Harris Mountains Heli Ski Wanaka
You'll be able to find helicopter/airplane tours all across New Zealand but Wanaka I would say is the place I would splurge and go for it. There are a bunch of different options and things to see but I would recommend doing a ride that will take you up to see Mt. Cook and the surrounding glaciers. the ride up there is incredible you'll see some of the bluest lakes and rivers and endless waterfalls and then NZ's highest peak and incredible glaciers. New Zealand's landscapes are absolutely gorgeous and they truly just get better from above - I was pretty much speechless the entire ride.

Rippon
Wanaka has a bunch of awesome vineyards so take an afternoon and go wine tasting, my two favorites are Rippon (walking distance from town, free tasting, & some unbeatable views) and Archangel (a little further outside of town but adorable winery with a really special story - make sure to ask to hear the story :) ).
