Sherwood Queenstown
My favorite hotel in Queenstown because it's off the main drag (often tourist central!) and offers an alternative vibe; they converted what was a run-down motor lodge into modern chic eco-conscious hotel. The staff is super friendly, there is an amazing restaurant with fresh local ingredients from the on-property farm! Grounds also have cool fire pits and sitting areas overlooking the lake. Whenever we make it back to Queenstown we will always stay here!

Eagles Nest
Ultra luxury hotel at the northernmost tip of the North Island of New Zealand. Each guest room is a free standing house with insane views and a private pool. The perfect place for that extra special occasion such as a few nights on your honeymoon or big anniversary.

Milford Sound
Legendary. The only place I can mention in the same breath as Lake Louise in Canada. Absolutely stunning sound surrounded my mountains. There's a reason we picked New Zealand for our honeymoon and Milford Sound is it.

Fergburger
Legitimate tourist trap and now super commercialized, buuuuut if you're flying all the way around the world to enjoy Queenstown New Zealand you should probably grab a burger at the world famous Fergnerger, which is an always crowded, cannot miss institution in the center of downtown. Order a beer while waiting for your burger then eat down by the stunning public park on the lake. You won't regret it.

Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki
Exactly what it sounds like...remote lodge in the middle of nowhere. A truly special place where there is one dinner time and gusts can mingle at a cocktail hour before dinner then be seated with other guests or your own private table for dinner. The hosts are incredible - we felt like we were at a wilderness B&B with guided hikes along the shoreline and through the jungle. We saw penguins and seals...from 10 feet away. Explored the nearby area via kayak one day too. Super cool spot especially if you're road tripping and need a spot to stay between bigger towns.

Amisfield Winery
Top 10 best dining experiences of my life. Wonderful fancy 12 course dinner with wine pairing to celebrate our honeymoon. Def the spot for a special occasion. It wasn't dinner -It was a true experience with incredibly creative local dishes, artistic presentation, and ridiculous wines. And the wine pairing consisted of full glasses for each course. Needless to say, we purchased a couple bottles on our way out after walking the grounds a bit after dinner.

Te Waonui Forest Retreat
Swanky hotel near the glacier. Felt a little touristy as the whole town exists because of the glacier, but was an overall nice experience there.

Lake Wanaka
This lake gets a little less love than Queenstown waterfront because it's not as commercialized or populated around it but it is equally if not more beautiful than the Queenstown waterfront area. Truly stunning views from every angle. We wish we had stayed nearby here or even camped in the public camping ground area for at least one night. If you're road tripping to or from Queenstown make sure you see this lake on the way. It's about 90 min drive from Queenstown.

The George
Staying here was the equivalent of staying in a luxury hotel on Central Park in New York City (although Christchurch is obviously much smaller!). Best location and incredible service. We even got our room upgraded because it was our honeymoon. Highly Raykammend.

Wilderness Lodge Arthur's Pass
In the same family as the other wilderness lodge I Raykammendated, this one has incredible views and hiking trails of the valley and mountains. We walked the grounds and saw the shearing barn where the company Smartwool (and others) source their wool. Delicious food at the restaurant too.
