St. Louis, Missouri - My not to miss list
Living in Missouri for almost a decade gave me the opportunity to explore this fun Midwestern City. There is more to it than the Arch!

Sugarfire Smoke House
I ran across this place by accident while visiting The Blues Museum which is next door. Great STL BBQ with various sauces and delicious side dishes. A nice addition to your visit to The Blues Museum. Blues and BBQ!

Zia's Restaurant and Catering
One of several Italian restaurants in The Hill but my favorite. The Hill is the Italian area of STL so you know the food is legit here. The pasta dishes are delicious and anything with cheese here is incredible. They also offer a nice wine selection here and will suggest something perfect for your meal.

National Blues Museum
I am a huge fan of Blues Music so to visit a museum that celebrates this music genre was fantastic. You can create your own music here and see artifacts and artwork of Blues legends.

The Fabulous Fox
If you can catch a show here I highly recommend it. I have seen ‘Wicked ‘ and ‘The Color Purple ‘ within the Fabulous Fox and it was fabulous! Check the website for theatre schedules to add to your STL visit.

City Museum
One of the funnest places in the Midwest! It is incredible! This is more than a museum as it is a playground of found objects and constructed into a huge funhouse. I mean HUGE, like 600,00 square feet inside an old building. . This is a great place for all ages as I did see some adults climbing and sliding!

Missouri Baking Co
Every time we visited the Hill, Missouri Baking Co was the first place we visited. We were smart and always brought a cooler with ice packs to keep our cookies from melting in the summer . I strongly suggest the traditional cookies and ask for them by the handful. “Two handfuls of the Amaretto cookies, please!” So yummy!

The Hill
My favorite district in STL! Yes, the reason is food influenced. There have been a couple of famous ball players that grew up in The Hill though, Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola so there is more to this historic neighborhood than the food. You can take a walking tour through this sweet neighborhood and grab some cookies and lunch (see my other recommendations).

The Gateway Arch
So you have to go to the Arch, the Gateway to the West. There is a nice museum but the fun part is going to the top. There are small pod elevators that bring you to the top of this massive arch!

Saint Louis Zoo
This is a great free thing to do in Saint Louis for all ages. A lot of the exhibits are paid entry through but it is a nice zoo nonetheless. There are educational programs to teach the community about wildlife so there is more it than just animal viewings.

Grant's Farm
Named after Ulysses S. Grant who once owned the property, this is a free attraction that houses many animals such as buffalo, camels and donkeys. This farm is owned by Anheuser-Busch so the Budweiser Clydesdales are also on Property. There are a couple of historic buildings on site: A house that Grant resided in and the Busch family mansion.

The Butterfly House
Walking with butterflies is such a fun experience for everyone. The butterfly house in STL is a lovely greenhouse that is filled with butterflies that you can interact with. One suggestion: wear warm weather clothing inside because it is quite humid!

St. Louis
The Gateway to the West is a lively city with a lot to offer. If you like the Cardinals, catch a game. If you like music, head to a Blues Club. If you like food, grab some Saint Louis BBQ or head to The Hill. This is one of the best Midwestern cities outside of Chicago! *See other recommendations
