Jekyll Island
If you are living on an Island sometimes, more or less all the time, you want to get out from that particular island, it doesn’t even matter if you are visiting another island. You basically just wannna get out from there. So because of this reason I often go to Jekyll. It is like 30 minutes away from St. Simons, which is not that bad at all. Jekyll isaland is actually owned by the State of Georgia, so even if you have a property on the Island, you still don’t own anything. Since it is State owned, there is a certain entrance fee to the island, imagine as if it would be a national park kind of. For that pass you can enter to the island and visit all the facilities, bars, restaurants as well.

Driftwood Beach
if you are going to Driftwood Beach you can literally see St. Simons, but because it has it’s own charm. As the name suggests here you can find driftwood and trees that resemble a tree graveyard. It is a wonderful location for photography and it can held special events, like weddings. Driftwood beach is claimed to be one of the most romantic places in the area :). What I like to do here if I have time is just to go over, find a tree what I like, set up my hammock and read a book. I love it :).

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center
If you love sea turtles I would highly recommend to visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which is located on the island too, where you can learn more about the rehabilitation of the turtles. Basically this is a rehabilitation center for injured turtles. So if you ever throw away plastic bags again, think about how it would affect the life of these vulnerable animals
