Hotel San Giorgio
Excellent location off the beaten path next to the Lenno ferry dock. Veronica, the owner, is wonderful and truly makes your stay feel special like you are a guest in her home. Spectacular views of the lake, tennis courts on site, and beautiful large lawn perfect for reading overlooking the lake. Great value too! Get a lake view room on a high floor.

Villa Balbianello
Truly spectacular villa on a hilltop overlooking Lake Como. Open for tours and even for private events (would be an epic wedding venue). If you visit Lake Como this may be the single best place for epic photos.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo
"Grand Hotel" is an understatement. This place is amazing and has an equally impressive view of the lake and spa (called T Spa) inside the hotel. Even if you don't stay here (it's pricey!) then have a drink or bowl of pasta on the terrace overlooking the lake.

Buca dell'Orafo
My fave restaurant in Florence. You know it's good when you're the only non-local in the restaurant! Very authentic and local vibe. Literally hidden away not far from the Ponte Vecchio and off the very beaten tourist path but physically near all the action. Try the veal with pecorino and rosemary. I dream of that dish on a regular basis. The place is so small that the wine cellar is down the street in another location so the waitstaff are often running in and out of the restaurant.

The Westin Excelsior, Florence
Among the grandest hotels in Florence, the Westin sits on a quiet square and boasts an impressive rooftop bar overlooking the Arno (river) and Florence skyline. Food drinks and rooms are pricey but they deliver very high quality service that makes it all worth it.

Il Latini
Being your appetite. Two nightly seatings, no menus, and unlimited free house wine (that's actually good). This place bustles and offers fun communal tables and funny friendly waiters. They'll rattle off the offerings for each course and you decide what you want. The bistecca alla Fiorentina is a must if they have it (usually do). You will be stuffed and tipsy by the end! I go here every time I'm in Florence!
