Garage Project Tap Room 91 Aro

Alongside quality coffee, Wellingtonians also have a thing for craft beer. Our favourite brewery to spend our Sunday arvo’s at is Garage Project in Aro Valley. Garage Project have two separate sites on Aro Street; their Cellar Door, where they offer free tastings from their 8-tap lineup, and their Taproom which is a great spot to plant yourself for an afternoon of beer tasting and small bites. It’s a beer lovers dream.

Parrotdog Brewery

Exuding retro 70s vibes is the ParrotDog Bar in the seaside suburb of Lyall Bay. Think carpeted walls, loud taxidermy and a jukebox. It feels almost as though you’ve travelled back in time. With a lineup of all their offerings on tap, along with fabulous food, the ParrotDog Bar is the best spot to take some time out of your day and unwind with friends and family. Heads up, ParrotDog is child and dog friendly too!

Whistling Sister Beer Co

Whistling Sisters Brewery and Fermentery is one of the newer craft breweries in Wellington, housed in a massive building on the corner of Taranaki and Ghuznee Street. They specialise in drinkable craft beers that aren’t crazy hoppy and fermented foods and charcuterie. Check out their Sister Sessions on Sundays where they feature prominent female singers from around Wellington.

The Arborist Rooftop Bar

The Arborist is one of few rooftop bars in Wellington (for good reason - this wind doesn’t quit!) but on a good day in the summertime, The Arborist is the place to be. They serve frozen cocktails like frose and margaritas, along with tasty snacks like tacos, burgers and assorted bowls.
