BASIC KITCHEN
Delicious health conscious food in a fun, well lit, and tastefully decorated restaurant right downtown. It can be busy around lunch time but if you can't wait you can order takeout online through their website and Postmates! Fave dish is the Naughty Burger - the meat alternative to the vegetarian Good Burger.

Holy City CrossFit
Under new ownership as of summer 2018, Holy City CrossFit has great coaches, small classes, a strong sense of community, and very challenging (but scalable) workouts. Whenever in Charleston for work I drop in to train with these folks. They rock.

The Watch Rooftop Kitchen and Spirits
Among the cooler places in Charleston to get a drink (or a burger!). Very few places have unobstructed views of all of Charleston but this one sure does. Yummy cocktails and friendly staff make it a great spot too.

Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel
The Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel is truly awesome. The large rooms and vintage furnishings make it really feel like the Southern charm most Charleston visitors are looking for. The staff is super friendly and the location couldn't be more convenient. And they have an outdoor saltwater pool! Definitely worth staying here or if you can't, pop in for a meal or yummy cocktail at their restaurant 1Kept.

Chubby Fish
Super fresh and tasty. Definitely a good spot for people who like to try new things and are open to interesting takes on classic American / Asian seafood dishes. If you're from New York this place is kind of like Seamore's with a fun twist.. Definitely sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen and trust the waiter and chef's recommendations!

Le Farfalle
I try to hit this place up every time I'm in Charleston. Perfect location downtown, huge bar with upscale cocktails, and delicious Italian. It's a good spot for a business lunch if you're looking to impress. Request one of the large blue booths as they are comfy, pretty private, and are up against the huge floor to ceiling windows.

Home Team BBQ
Of course the Game Changer cocktail is a fan favorite - a frozen cocktail with a lotta rum offered in two diff sizes. Wings are great and offered in multiple diff sauce options, but the winner for me is the ribs and brisket platter with sides. Great place for a team dinner or to watch a game on their many TVs. I go here every time I'm in Charleston!

Uneeda Sicilian
Everyone has their favorite pizza place near home. Well this is my favorite pizza place away from home! Super casual ambience and crispy Sicilian slices with a good canned beer selection make this a quick easy and yummy spot for a quick slice. Definitely try the sausage and broccoli rabe slice and wash it down with a local beer...or two.

Blind Tiger Pub
Yes. The old fashioned is as good as the other recs say it is. Even better is the outdoor space out back if it's warm out. This is a must visit spot if you're in Charleston, if not for the burger and cocktails then definitely for a night cap.

167 Raw
Excellent raw bar and rockin tuna burger and lobster roll. Often a wait so make sure you get there early. Or order as take out, enjoy a beer on the bench outside while waiting for your food then go enjoy at the nearby waterfront park!
