The High Line
If you must do Time Square then get it over with and try to catch a sunset from "The High Line". This park is elevated above the busy west side avenues and was originally the railroad infrastructure to ship goods and food to downtown Manhattan and the meat packing district. Always pretty busy so you'll likely stroll it slowly while grabbing pictures among other tourists along the way. During the warmer months there is a beer and wine bar and some other vendors for ice cream and art along the walk. After sunset grab a dinner in the west village or Chelsea neighborhoods!

Brooklyn Heights Promenade
Who knew the best views in all of New York City were actually in Brooklyn? The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is a public walkway/park with unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline directly overlooking the harbor, Brooklyn Bridge and World Trade Center. A great place to walk with an ice cream, go for a run, or just sit on a park bench and take in the sunset.
