Lashings
Possibly the best brownies in the world and the cutest spot for day time date or just a quick coffee. Try the classic chocolate brownie or the PBJ brownie. They're our faves!

Sweet Bakery & Cakery
Layered cakes and cupcakes galore. Not to mention, amazing milkshakes! Two locations, one in Karori and one on Cuba Street - Karori is a good one if you're planning on going to Zealandia Wildlife Sanctuary.

Field & Green
The ice cream at Field and Green makes for an amazing dessert! We always find it hard to choose just one flavour but the hokey pokey or the ginger are two of our go-to's. They also do great brunch.

Newtown
Little Dough Co sells from Thursdays to Sunday's at 2 cafes, Customs or Ekor Book Store. The flavours change every week and there's a filled and glazed version. With flavours like matcha cream or peanut butter and coffee glazed, it's best to get in early to have your choice

Hawthorn Lounge
Hawthorn is one of the best bars in Wellington and even for the well-seasoned, a little bit of a struggle to find. Hidden away in between a dry-cleaners and a restaurant, you'll find a speakeasy with comfy cosy spaces and all the classics.

Night Flower
The newest bar on the Wellington scene but it's a strong contender simply due to the flexible nature of the staff at the bar. With no menu, all partrons require a chat with the staff to discover a drink that is best for them

Crumpet
A jazzy little spot, great for people watching and hidden in plain sight next to the Opera House. If you're feeling adventurous, grab the file-o-fax of cocktails, take a spin and get what it lands on.

Chow Tory
If you're in for a good night on a Saturday, we definitely recommend Chow. Two for one cocktails every Saturday mean you can work your way through the menu at your leisure. We love the gambatte, served with an entire damson plum and chopsticks

Hot Sauce Wellington
Hidden at the bottom of the lavish QT Hotel, Hot Sauce pushes mood lighting and Asian fusion flavours to the limit. Plus the entire wall of maneki-neko (lucky cats) makes getting that gram super easy

The cutest winery in Martinborough, the wines are only available at the cellar door. Try the rose and book in for a platter for lunch. It's perfection

Hawker Chan
Michelin star food for under $5? Yes! The lines are long band you need to be a bit cut throat to get a seat but it is worth it. Hong Kong style soy sauce chicken and rice - it is simplicity at it's finest.

Madam Khanh - The Banh Mi Queen
Lunch and a local beer for $2.50, the sandwiches here have ruined us for any future banh mi. The queen herself is sassy so be prepared to just order one of each, have a seat and enjoy! You will be back at least once more during any trip to Hoi An

fermentAsian
You would never expect to find some of the best Asian food in a small town in South Australia but it really was some of the best we've ever had. Elevated, flavourful and one of the biggest and best wine lists we have ever laid eyes on.

The perfect thing for when you get off a long haul flight from NZ to USA and it's a lot colder than you expected. Hot ramen, cold beer. Massive portions and open late. Done, done, done.
