Nice casual spot with a changing menu reflecting the seasons and a great wine list. Sit by the pass if you can and get a few dishes to share. They always have a great sharing dishes like lamb or chicken.

In the coolest little alleyway, great natural wine list and was named one of NZ top restaurants. The flatbread is insane and any seafood they put up is always delightful

Some of the tastiest, freshest food you'll find on Cuba Street. The pizza is amazing, especially if they have the jerusalem artichoke or the asparagus pizza.

Cicio Cacio Osteria
Newtown's best kept secret - a little venture to the suburbs and you will find the best pasta in Wellington! The menu changes everyday but we suggest a couple of pastas, some sides, tiramisu and a carafe of wine. Good times!

Ortega
If you love seafood - then you have to go to Ortega. On the cusp of Mt Victoria, it's also home to one of the best steaks in Wellington and a brilliant wine list. Davy and the team will always make you feel welcome.

If you are setting out to impress - go with Whitebait. The degustation menu changes often and is worth the higher than most meals out price. Views of the harbour are lovely on a clear day so when booking - request a window table.

Just a hop, skip and jump out of the city centre is Aro Valley, home to Rita. Set menu, 3 courses which changes often it's a date night packaged up in the most beautiful way. Make sure you try the bread - it's truly some of the best we have ever had.
