Ohrid
We had no expectation when we traveled to Macedonia to visit the ancient Lake of Ohrid in Macedonia. We were thrilled to find a village that looked like an Ottoman fairy tale. Winding cobblestone streets, ancient churches hidden in caves along the lake, charming shops, and restaurants. It's a must-see.

Berat
Berat is not on the radar of many travelers, but this ancient Ottoman village is breathtaking. It's nicknamed "The City of a Thousand Windows" because it has great, white buildings with glittering windows stacked on top of each other, like Legos along the cliff. Visit the castle and the Onufri Museum, eat at Lili's, and explore the winding streets inside the village and in the hills.

Dinant
Dinant is spectacular and completely underrated. The cathedral there is set just in front of a towering cliff and its reflecton can be seen in the river in front of it as well as the colorful store fronts that line the street. It’s a perfect day trip from Brussels.

Paxi
Available only by ferry, this tiny island is where you go to see real Greek Island life. You can find delicious seafood in Lakka and enjoy the atomosphere of Gaios. Erimitis Beach is my favorite beach in the world. It's out of the way and a short hike, but absolutely gorgeous.

Steamboat Springs
This small ski town isn't nearly as famous as Aspen, or Vail, but it is the perfect ski vacation. Ski in the winter, go whitewater raftng in the summer, hike to Fish Creek Falls, and soak in Strawberry Park Hot Springs in the mountains. Visit the Steamboat Art Company and the old fashioned Lyon Drug Soda Fountain on the charming Main Street. Eat at Creekside Cafe and watch the Yampa River flash by you, get breakfast at Winona's, or great burgers at Johnny B Good's.
