House of Ceauşescu
This is the luxurious home of the former dictator, Ceausescu. It is in tact and serves as a reminder of how he lived while his country starved and lived in poor conditions during his reign.

"Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum
This is a walk through the real Romania. A very special museum with traditional homes brought into Bucharest that you can walk into.

Bucharest
The capital of Romania, city holds a lot of history. It has been called the Little Paris of the East and has a smaller scale Arc de Triomphe. I suggest to take a historic tour to understand Bucharest during communism days.

Such a sweet city with so much charm. Brasov has a great main square with restaurants and cafes.

Transylvania
It is interesting to think that the Romanians did not know the character ‘Dracula’ until the fall of communism. Transylvania is home to Bram Stoker’s fictional character Dracula and although he was not common with Romanians, it should still be on your list. Dracula’s Castle is a fortress but there are no vampires, sorry!

Peles Castle
One of the most impressive and beautiful castles that I have seen. You can drive or take a day tour from Romania, it is worth the trip.

Suceava
Suceava is the starting point for the UNESCO World Herritage Sight, the Painted Monasteries of Moldavia. These are a series of Romanian Orthodox Churches built in the 1400s-1500s. To get to Suceava, take a train from Bucharest and hire a guide or tour company that can walk you through the history of the churches.
