Zagreb
Zagreb is the Capitol and the least fancied of Croatian cities. Why? Perhaps it is due to the kind locals, the beautiful mountain range encasing the city, or just perhaps it is the artistic vibe the city exudes. We may never know why this city filled with such beauty, sweeping views from both the 360 tower and the Medvedgrad Fortress, and cheap delicious eats is off of everyones list when visiting Croatia, but I urge you to give it a chance. The city is both safe for solo travelers and cheap enough one could either get an Airbnb or even a hotel room for a decent price.

Bucharest
Nestled far away from the majority of travelers minds and maps is the beautiful country of Romania. This metropolis is home to extravigant architecture, cheap accomodations, and locals who will adopt you. Bucharest is easy to fall in love with as a solo traveler with the average Uber ride from the airport costing no more than $13 and an average "nice" meal around $10. The expansive train system makes Romania easy to explore and the Bucharest metro will surprise many. Bucharest should be on every budget travelers bucklist.

Bovec
Switzerland isn't the only country with snowcapped mountains. Whats best about Bovec is the outdoor activities. This village, set high up in the Julian Alps, boasts year round snowy mountain ranges and some of the best rafting this side of the equator. Not due to the class of the rapids, but for the fact that the water is crystal clear and rafting the Soca river will give you some of the best views Slovenia has to offer. Take the 3 hour, $10 bus ride from Ljubljana main station to Bovec, stay in a lively hostel focused on the outdoors and make new friends while rafting or learning how to kayak.

Howth
When someone says Ireland, Dublin comes to the majority of minds. But what if I told you there was a much more beautiful and much cheaper option located 30 minutes and $6 away on the sea? Howth is a solo traveler haven. For such a small fishing village, there is quite a lot to due. In the summer, hike around the "island" and take a plunge in the ocean off of jump rock. During the winter, enjoy the christmas decorations lining the main street and have mulled wine in any of the pubs. You might just get seranded by carollers from Saint Mary's Church.

Germany
Winter who? Even some Germans have never heard of this sleepy mountain town across the river from Bonn. Take the 5 euro metro ride and 1.20 euro ferry over to Winterskönig where you can see one of Germanys least photogrpahed castles, Drachensfel. This is the perfect solo trip and easily done on a budget as entry to the mountain where the castle is set is compeltely free, unless you want to take the funicular or enter the castle itself. If you're up for a hike and some gorgeous views, put on your walking shoes and set aside a day to explore this unknown area of Germany.
