Sushi By Bou
Ok I can't rave about this place enough. I am a huge fan of sushi and this has to be one of the best omakase's in NYC, especially for its value. 12 courses, 30 minutes $60. Located in Faltiron, I don’t think you could find anywhere quiet like it! They have all the basics; tuna, salmon, scallop and then more non-traditional sushi, like torched Wagyu. They have this special dubbed “the big mac” (pictured below) which is one of the best things I have put in my mouth. Torched Wagyu+Uni+truffle 'nough said. This is one of my go to spots in the city. In typical NYC style you have to text to get a res. They have you in and out of there pretty much 30 min on the dot so don’t be late. Make sure your phone is charged, you’ll want snap them flaming that Wagyu.

Omakase Room by Tatsu
This 8 seat traditional Japanese omakase spot in West Village is fantastic. Chef Tatsu likes to focus on very different fishes, he hails from sushi Yasuda so brings some of his background knowledge from there and adds his own spin on things. There are not a lot of extra flavors- pure fish. The space is very traditional- brightly lit, all wood. Its very small so make sure you don't bring someone who will make a nuisance. Chef Tatsuya is freaking adorable and doesnt stop smiling, also make sure to not move your sushi tray from the top counter and OF COURSE eat your sushi with your hands. he will correct your western technique if you dare attempt.

Kanoyama
Kanoyama is great because it’s a very versatile spot. You can go for just a casual sushi dinner or you can go drop $400 on a 15 course Omakase with Nobuson. The sushi quality is actually good here and I like to call this sort of place “clean sushi” meaning they don’t do rolls with stuff like spicy crunch or cream cheese in them. You get sashimi and pretty basic rolls and that’s that. I had originally tried this spot before I knew about their Omakase in the back of the restauraunt. My first impression was EH, its good but ive definitely had better. The place is very brightly lit and a little overpriced for what you get. However, ironically enough everytime I went to Sushi by Bou we talked of our love of Omakase and I would ask time and again his favorite spot in the city and he and a sushi chef there said we HAD to try the Omakase with chef Nobuson at Kanoyama.. so obviously I did. It was fantastic. 16 courses of clean sushi, every piece divine. Go here with a fellow sushi lover and make sure to ask for nobuson.

Sushi Katsuei
Great omakase spot in West Village. They have 3 different omakase options, the best one being "unlimited" so you basically eat until your anbout to pop. Make sure your date is about to drop a solid amount here because you're obviously opting for the all you can eat omakase. Sit at the bar, the place is pretty brightly lit so make sure you like whoever your going with.

The OG cheap tiny nyc omakase restaurant, outdoor sushi counter serving 12 course omakase for $60. Sushi by Bou is essentially a rip off of Sushi on jones.

Sushi Yasuda
One of the best omakases in NYC. The omakase is hands down one of the freshest most authentic omakase experiences I have had besidews in Japan. however who ever is in charge of their lighting needs to be fired. Unless your skin is in flawless condition, not recommended as a date spot

[Sushi] Ginza Sushiko
This place is alittle different than the rest in that its not JUST about the food. The ambiance here is also great and they put a little twist on their omakase.Personal favorite omakase. Nice and dark inside and they have fun dishes like gold flaked wagyu.
